摘要： A shifter for vehicles including a base structure and a shift lever that is movably mounted to the base structure. A shift gate controls movement of the shift lever between a plurality of control positions including at least PARK, NEUTRAL and DRIVE control positions. The shifter also includes a powered pawl having a pawl member configured to engage the shift gate. The pawl member defines a first position relative to the shift gate wherein the shift lever is locked in the NEUTRAL position. The pawl member also defines a second position relative to the shift gate wherein the shift lever is movable between the PARK, NEUTRAL and DRIVE positions. The pawl member further defines a third position relative to the shift gate wherein the pawl member locks the shift lever in the PARK position.

摘要： A shifter includes a powered pawl mechanism that selectively engages a shift gate. The powered pawl mechanism may include an electrically operated solenoid or the like, and may be mounted to the base of the shifter or to the shift lever. The pawl engages a shift gate that is mounted on the other of the shift lever and the base. A mechanical override may be utilized to disengage the pawl. The shifter includes an electrically operated push button or the like on the shift knob, and may utilize sensors that determine the shift lever position for controlling a transmission.

摘要： A shift control mechanism for an automatic transmission includes a housing having a shift control pattern with a longitudinal portion defining a plurality of automatic transmission operating settings and a transverse portion at one end of the longitudinal portion defining a plurality of manual transmission operating settings, a shift lever which is manually movable along the shift control portion for selecting the automatic transmission operating settings and for selecting the manual transmission operating settings, and a proximity switch assembly actuated by moving the shift lever to a first position in the transverse portion to send a signal to manually upshift the automatic transmission and to a second position in the transverse portion opposite the first position to send a signal to manually downshift the automatic transmission.
