      wherein the guide-driving means (101) is provided with a first saddle (4) having a front face (4c) extending in the lateral direction (X) and the vertical direction (Z), a second saddle (7) being guided on the front face (4c) of the first saddle,
      wherein the first saddle (4) is guided in the longitudinal direction (Y) on the top face (1f) of the base (100) and a second saddle (7) is guided in the lateral direction (X) on the front part of the first saddle (4), and
      the guide-driving means (101) comprises a guide part (10) extending in the vertical direction (Z) on the second saddle (7) for guiding the machining head (102) in the vertical direction (Z),
      characterized in that the base (100) is formed in an almost rectangular solid in which a front face (1c) is formed in a single plane orthogonal to a longitudinal direction (Y) and the jig (28) is installed at a vertical intermediate position of the front face (1c) so that the machining head (102) is displaced in three directions (X,Y,Z) in front of the single plane while the tool machines the work and cutting chips fall without accumulating on the base (100).

    • The invention provides an angle tool holder to be disposed on an attachment attached to a spindle head of a vertical machining center and holding the angle tool holder to enable five-face machining of a workpiece. The angle tool holder denoted as a whole by reference number 500 has a shank 510 inserted to a spindle of the main machine, wherein a rotation of the shank 510 is transmitted via a gear transmission mechanism or the like disposed in a housing 540 so that the direction of a drive shaft thereof is varied orthogonally to thereby drive the angle cutter 520. An arm 550 connected to the housing 540 has three pull stud bolts 570 disposed thereon. The three pull stud bolts 570 are arranged at 90-degree intervals, and are clamped simultaneously by three collet chucks out of the four collet chucks disposed on the attachment unit for five-face machining.

The apparatus 100 further includes: an immobilizing base 14 mounted on said rail 10 for reciprocal linear movement along said assembly rail 10 in the direction of a second axis and a clamping base 23 mounted on said immobilizing base 14 and adapted to be clamped onto said workpiece 1a to locate said working assembly 9 at a predetermined one of said work zones; and a movable base 22 mounted on the assembly rail 10 for limited reciprocal linear displacement along the assembly rail 10 in the direction of the second axis relative to the immobilizing base 14 The working assembly 9 is mounted on the movable base 22 to enable limited linear displacement of the working assembly 9 in the second axis direction in the predetermined work zone.
