摘要： A method is disclosed for identifying a spreading code used to despread a received CDMA signal, the method comprising defining a search window comprising a set of offsets for a pseudorandom noise (PN) sequence, wherein the set of offsets is at a first time resolution that is more coarse than a second time resolution of a demodulator used to demodulate the received CDMA signal; for each offset, applying a corresponding spreading code to the received CDMA signal to obtain a signal energy level; reporting a peak offset, for which the obtained signal energy level is greatest, wherein the peak offset has the first time resolution; deciding whether to enable a shoulder mode; when the shoulder mode is enabled, reporting a first shoulder energy level corresponding to an offset preceding the peak offset and a second shoulder energy level corresponding to an offset following the peak offset; and when the shoulder mode is not enabled, refraining from reporting the first shoulder energy level.

摘要： A multipath searcher and method includes a programmable decimation filter configured to adjust a sample rate of a received pilot signal. A plurality of correlators is configured to compare the received pilot signal to a reference code in a first mode and in a second mode. The first mode includes a low resolution search of a search window performed such that the plurality of correlators encompass an entire search window concurrently and the plurality of correlators receives a delayed reference code delayed to correspond with a portion of the search window in which a corresponding correlator performs correlation to identify peaks in the received pilot signal. The second mode includes a high resolution search of a refined search window only at or near identified peaks discovered in the first mode. The high resolution search is focused at the peak location by adjusting delays in the plurality of correlators.

摘要： A parallel digital matched filter is constructed which performs numerous simultaneous correlations of a received spread spectrum signal against various replica offsets of its spreading sequence. This allows for the rapid acquisition (12) of the received signal code phase, and subsequent handoff to tracking (14) for a multi-channel receiver. A novel matched filter computational architecture is utilized, in which common digital arithmetic elements are used for both acquisition and tracking purposes. As each channel is sequentially acquired by the parallel matched filter, a subset of the arithmetic elements are then dedicated to the subsequent tracking of that channel. This process is repeated, with the remaining available arithmetic elements accelerating the acquisition of the next channel, and so on, until all resources are allocated as tracking channels. Additionally, multiple data inputs and delay lines (10) are present in this architecture, and are available for processing at each arithmetic element. In this way, multiple signal bands and user channels may be integrated within a common receiver framework.
