    • An amplifier (200) comprises an envelope generation stage (10) arranged to generate a first envelope signal indicative of an envelope of an input signal over a first range of values of the envelope of the input signal, and a second envelope signal indicative of the envelope of the input signal over a second range, higher than the first range, of values of the envelope of the input signal. The first envelope signal is substantially independent of the envelope of the input signal over the second range, and the second envelope signal is substantially independent of the envelope of the input signal over the first range. A first amplification stage (50) is arranged to amplify the input signal and has a first supply of power dependent on the first envelope signal. A second amplification stage (60) is arranged to amplify the input signal and has a second supply of power dependent on the second envelope signal. A summing stage (80) is arranged to sum the input signal amplified by the first and second amplification stages (50, 60).

    • Systems and apparatus for converting an input current signal into two or more output voltage signals on an integrated circuit. In one aspect, an integrated circuit includes a first trans-impedance amplifier that includes a first cascode amplifier; and a second trans-impedance amplifier that includes a second cascode amplifier, the second cascode amplifier and the first cascode amplifier sharing an input transistive element; where the first cascode amplifier is coupled to one or more first switches that disable the first trans-impedance amplifier, the second cascode amplifier is coupled to one or more second switches that disable the second trans-impedance amplifier, and control logic coupled to the one or more first switches and the one or more second switches disables at least one of the first trans-impedance amplifier or the second trans-impedance amplifier.

    • An amplification device includes: a distortion detection loop for amplifying a signal to be amplified by an amplifier (3) and detecting a distortion component contained in the amplified signal; and a distortion removal loop for removing the distortion component from the amplified signal by using the distortion component detected by the distortion detection loop. The amplification device combines the signal to be amplified with a reference signal (pilot signal) and performs control on distortion compensation by using the reference signal. The configuration for performing control on distortion compensation by using the reference signal is realized effectively. Amplification object signal detection means (11-13, 21) detect a signal to be amplified. When the amplification object signal detection means detect that no signal to be amplified is input, reference signal control means (21, 15) perform control in such a manner that no reference signal is output.
