    • A power tool includes a brushless DC motor housed inside a tool housing, an input unit, and a control unit. The motor includes a rotor, a stator, and at least one sensor positioned to sense a state of the rotational position of the rotor inside the stator. A control unit controls commutation of the motor through a series of power switches coupled to the power supply. The control unit receives a current sensor state from the sensor and a user-selected speed from the input unit and determines whether the motor has reversed direction using the user-selected speed and the current sensor state. The control unit disables commutation of the motor if the motor has reversed direction until a proper current sensor state is received from the sensor.

    • To rotate a rotary body at a constant velocity, a swing control device 50 of an electric rotary excavator controls the rotation of the rotary body with a small first torque command value T1. Thus, when inertia moment of the rotary body is changed due to extension or retraction of a boom and an arm, the change of the inertia moment affects the rotation velocity of the rotary body, and an operator can perform a rotation operation with the same feeling as in a hydraulically-driven excavator. In contrast, when operating a swing lever 10 for acceleration, the rotation is controlled with a large second torque command value T2. Accordingly, a good and quick operational feeling is obtained without a delay in acceleration or deceleration, and the degradation of workability can be avoided.

    • There is provided an actuator in which an worm is rotationally driven by an electric motor, and in which an angular velocity of the electric motor is repeatedly fluctuated so that the rotation of the worm is carried out as if the worm is oscillated in the rotational direction thereof, to thereby decrease contact friction of the worm against a worm wheel, resulting in an improvement of an efficiency of force transmission of the worm gear mechanism.
      Although the electric motor 20 is inherently controlled so that an output shaft 21 thereof is rotated at a target velocity based on a velocity command, a drive control section 40 controls the angular velocity of the output shaft 41 so as to be repeatedly increased and decreased with respect to the target velocity so that the angular velocity of the worm 11 is finely fluctuated, and thus the fluctuation of the angular velocity may be regarded as a fine general-oscillation of the rotating worm 11 in the rotational direction, whereby friction between the gear faces of the worm 11 and the gear faces of the worm wheel 12 can be decreased, resulting in an improvement of the efficiency of force transmission of the worm gear, and in increase in a driving force and a torque value to be transmitted to an object to be driven by the actuator.
