    • A rotating disk-shape recording medium (1) has, on each of its opposite sides, a recording area which is divided in a radial direction into n recording zones (a₁,a₂,b₁,b₂). A disk apparatus for reproducing information from and/or reproducing information from the recording medium has a first group of n heads (A₁,A₂) disposed to respectively oppose to the n recording zones on one side of the recording medium, and a second group of n heads (B₁,B₂) disposed to respectively oppose to the n recording zones on the other side of the recording medium, each head being movable to scan its corresponding recording zone. A head drive unit (4) causes each of the first group of n heads to move within its corresponding recording zone in a direction from an outer circumference to an inner circumference of the zone and each of the first group of n heads to move within its corresponding recording zone in a direction from an inner circumference to an outer circumference of the zone so that a sum of linear velocities of the first and second groups of n heads is substantially constant. Further, the first group of n heads and the second group of n heads respectively constitute n pairs of heads each being consituted by an i-th head from an outermost head of the first group and an i-th head from an innermost head of the second group ( i = 1 through n) such that a sum of linear velocities of each pair of heads is substantially constant and equal to a sum of linear velocities of another pair of heads.

    • A method and apparatus for reading data contained in blocks arranged in a number of tracks on a storage medium, wherein movement of the storage medium causes the tracks to deviate from a nominal path, are disclosed. In the method and apparatus, a set of multiple read elements (R o ,R c ,R u ) is disposed relative to the storage medium so that each of the read elements covers at least a portion of the expected area in which a track to be read will be found, given movement of the storage medium. Each of the read elements has a read channel uniquely associated therewith, and all of the read elements are used simultaneously to read the data blocks. The read channels are monitored, and a first arriving, correctly read block is selected from among the channels, the selected block being the next block in a sequence, following a previously selected block. The data blocks are then stored at memory locations correlated to their position in the sequence on the storage medium.

    • The present invention relates to a rotatable work tool assembly comprising a rotatable body (13), a fixed holder for the body, a work tool (22) mounted on the body, a pivot pin (21) extending from the holder, and a recess (20A) within the body adapted to receive the pivot pin so that the body can rotate about the pivot pin relative to the holder and the work tool can move into a selected work position.
      According to the invention the assembly is characterized in that it comprises biasing means for applying a biasing force to the body in a direction along a line extending from the axis of the pivot pin to the work tool for all positions of the body as it rotates so as to tend to prevent any movement of the body relative to the pivot pin along the line due to spacing between the outer surface of the pivot pin and the inner surface of the recess.
