The velocity of the fluid in the borehole is estimated using the two reflections. Alternatively, a change in the gas content of the borehole fluid is estimated from changes in the electrical impedance of a transducer in contact with the borehole fluid.

摘要： A method is provided for acoustically ejecting from a channel or other container a plurality of fluid droplets, each of which contains one or more particles or other localized volumes. The localized volumes, which can be living cells, are ejected towards sites on a substrate surface, a container, or a channel. An integrated cell sorting and arraying system is also provided that is capable of sorting based upon cellular properties by the selective ejection of cells from a carrier fluid. The cells can be ejected with adjustable velocity and trajectory. The ejected cells can be directed to form an array, wherein each site of the array can contain a single cell. Additionally provided is a method of forming arrays of single live cells more efficiently, rapidly, flexibly, and economically than by other cell array approaches. This method permits efficient, continuous, and simultaneous sorting of cells based upon the quantitative or semiquantitative measurement of cellular properties, and also permits non-binary or severally-branched decision-making. An integrated system, which includes a processor, and methods are also provided for the detection, selection, and ejection of selected particles or circumscribed volumes, such as live cells, from a continuous stream of fluid-suspended particles or other circumscribed volumes flowing in channels.

Methods may include using at least two solid acoustic transmission media, including a first media and a second media having different acoustic impedances and each having a corresponding face immersed in the downhole fluid. Methods may include using a reflection of an acoustic pulse from a solid-liquid interface at the corresponding face of the first media and the second media to estimate the parameter of interest. The sound speed and the acoustic impedance of the first media and the sound speed and the acoustic impedance of the second media may each be different than a sound speed and an acoustic impedance of the fluid and each other. The parameter of interest may be estimated independently of a time of flight in the downhole fluid of any acoustic pulses.

摘要： An integrated system for determining a hemostasis and oxygen transport parameter of a blood sample, such as blood, is disclosed. The system includes a measurement system, such as an ultrasonic sensor, configured to determine data characterizing the blood sample. For example, the data could be displacement of the blood sample in response to ultrasonic pulses. An integrated aspect of the system may be a common sensor, sample portion or data for fast and efficient determination of both parameters. The parameters can also be used to correct or improve measured parameters. For example, physiological adjustments may be applied to the hemostatic parameters using a HCT measurement. Also, physical adjustments may be applied, such as through calibration using a speed or attenuation of the sound pulse through or by the blood sample. These parameters may be displayed on a GUI to guide treatment.
