    • The system is intended for a motor-vehicle having an engine to which a magneto-flywheel generator (3) is coupled and which is adapted to be rotated by means of a pedal crank (2). The system (1) comprises:

      a voltage supply terminal (6) connected to the output of the generator (3, 4) and to a storage battery (5),
      a dc/dc voltage converter (9) having a supply input (9a) connected to the terminal (6), and an enabling input (9b),
      a capacitive-discharge ignition circuit (11, 12) the input of which is connected to the output of the voltage converter (9) and the output of which is coupled to a spark plug (SP),
      a rotation sensor (14) associated with the generator (3),
      an ignition switch (15) connected to the terminal (6),
      a regulated direct-current voltage supply circuit (7) the input of which is connected to the supply terminal (6), and
      an electronic processing and control unit (ECU).

      The voltage supply circuit (7) and the voltage converter (9) are connected to the supply terminal (6) by means of diodes (8, 10) and respective capacitors (C1, C2) in a manner such that, when the engine is started by means of the pedal crank (2), the energy supplied by the generator (3) is sufficient to enable the voltage supply circuit (7) to supply the regulated voltage for a predetermined minimum period of time and to enable the voltage converter (9) to store sufficient energy for the striking of at least one ignition spark in the engine.
      The processing and control unit (ECU) is arranged to implement an emergency engine ignition and starting procedure in which it enables the voltage converter (9) to operate in order to charge the ignition capacitor (12) and subsequently to strike a spark to start the engine.

    • For a combustion-powered, fastener-driving tool, a combined ignition and fuel system (10) comprises a battery (12), two normally opened switches namely a head switch (14) and a trigger switch (16), a fuel injector (18) including a solenoid (20) and an associated circuit (22) controlling the fuel injector to enable the fuel injector to inject a combustible fuel for a first time interval, a circuit (24) for producing ignition, and a circuit (26) for monitoring the head and trigger switches (14, 16), for disabling the injector-controlling circuit (22) if the trigger switch (16) is closed while the head switch (14) is open or if both switches are open, for enabling the injector controlling circuit (22) if the trigger switch (16) is closed while the head switch (14) is closed, for enabling the ignition-producing circuit (24) after a second time interval succeeding the first time interval, and for disabling the ignition producing circuit (24) when the injector-controlling circuit (22) is disabled as mentioned. The system further comprises a circuit (60) for monitoring the battery voltage, for comparing the monitored voltage to a reference voltage, and for enabling the injector controlling circuit (22) and the ignition-producing circuit (24) if the monitored voltage is not less than the reference voltage, and for disabling the injector-controlling circuit (22) and the ignition-producing circuit (24) if the monitored voltage is less than the reference voltage.

    • This disclosure relates to an anti-theft system for use in a vehicle having at least one anti-theft device such as an ignition suppressor and a siren alarm. The system comprises an infrared receiver unit adapted to be mounted within the passenger compartment of the vehicle, and a companion infrared transmitter unit that is adapted to be hand held by the vehicle operator. The transmitter unit includes a programmable encoder for generating, when energized, a coded signal, and a manually-actuated switch connected to the encoder for use by the operator in selectively energizing the encoder to generate and transmit a coded signal.
      The receiver unit comprises a programmable decoder which is programed to respond to the coded signal transmitted by the companion transmitter unit. The receiver unit further includes a switching circuit which is connected to respond to the encoder and to control the operation of at least one anti-theft device of the vehicle.
