The interface element (14) is formed by molding and includes: an upper portion (26), in a vertical direction when the tailgate (10) is in the closed position on the vehicle body, the upper portion (26) comprising means (58, 60, 49) for attaching to the window (12), a lower portion (28), in the same vertical direction, and including means (62, 64, 49) for attaching to the window (12), and a central stiffening portion (30) that includes means (68, 49) for rigidly connecting to the window (12). The rigid connection means (68) are arranged so that the central portion (30) takes a significant portion of the stress to which the window (12) is subjected. The central stiffening portion also includes means suitable for allowing at least one electrical cable to pass therethrough from the upper portion (26) to the lower portion (28).

The drive link is movable in a first direction to engage the detent lever to open the latch and is movable in a second direction to engage the fork bolt to cinch the latch.
