    • When sub-images are sequentially transferred and connected together to form a larger image than would be possible with a single transfer operation, the occurrence of a color change in the overlapping region of the sub-images is suppressed and the width of the overlapping region is reduced as much as possible. Color image data are divided into image data of two sub-images containing an overlapping region and having edges that coincide for each color ink transferred to paper. Color values of the color image data in the overlapping region are converted by using a color conversion factor group created in advance for each position on the overlapping region so as to cancel out a color change that occurs in the overlapping region when the sub-images are transferred with one overlapping the other. The image data of the sub-images are corrected by adjusting converted color values in the overlapping region by using a correction factor for print density at each position on the overlapping region. A color image is formed by sequentially transferring the sub-images in accordance with corrected image data thereof so that the sub-images overlap at the overlapping region.

    • A method and a device are disclosed for luminous printing of an original image using fluorescent ink or other fluorescent display pigments. In some embodiments, the original image is separated into multiple layers, including at least a brightness layer and an inverse brightness (or darkness) layer, by applying extracted brightness data and inverse brightness data, to the original image, respectively. Each of the layers is associated with a set of corresponding printing channels. The sets of printing channels are applied by a printing device to print the original image on a print medium, such as paper, mylar, fabric, and other print surfaces. Multiple visual effects may be realized using the aforementioned process, including fluorescent images that are only visible under UV (Ultra Violet) or black light, images with high-fidelity colors under daylight and dark conditions, and shadow effects such as depth illusion.

    • An optical printer head (1) capable of preventing catching between a filter holder (8) and a luminous tube (2) to prevent production of dust and attaining replacement of the luminous tube (2) without exposing filters to an ambient atmosphere. A filter holder (8) is arranged separately from the light source (2) and a selfoc lens array (14), to prevent production of dust from the filter holder (8) due to contact of the filter holder (8) with the light source (2) and the selfoc lens array (14). A base (9) is arranged so as to receive only the filter holder (8) from being exposed to an ambient atmosphere, resulting in dust being kept from adhering to the filters. A pair of light passages (12,13) are formed on a light path and closed with a light-permeable cover (15) to sealedly close the base (9), thereby preventing dust from intruding into the base (9) during replacement of the light source (2).
