摘要： An optical scanning device is provided. The optical scanning device includes an oscillating mirror which has a pair of electrodes and a mirror oscillator, and which deflects a light beam; a driving unit which applies a wave-like driving signal to the pair of electrodes so as to oscillate the mirror oscillator by an electrostatic force corresponding to the driving signal; and an adjusting unit which changes a duty ratio of the driving signal to adjust an oscillation amplitude of the oscillating mirror.

摘要： Image forming apparatus and optical scanning apparatus each includes a light source, a deflector, an fθ lens, and first and second light-beam detectors. The light source outputs light beams, and is turned on and is controlled in accordance with image data. The deflector deflects the output light beams in a main-scanning direction. The fθ lens corrects the deflected light beams from constant-angular-velocity scanning to constant-velocity scanning. The first and second light-beam detectir detect the deflected light beams at two spots along the main-scanning direction. The first light-beam detector is located at a scanning-start side, and the second light-beam detector is located at a scanning-end side. The light beam that is incident on the first light-beam detector is not transmitted through the fθ lens, and the light beam that is incident on the second light-beam detector is transmitted through the fθ lens.

摘要： A method of achieving line-to-line synchronization having a high degree of synchronization accuracy. Synchronization is performed by a specific high-speed block of logic which signals the beginning of scans to a PELCLK-based logic at pel boundaries, and provides subpel shifting as it passes data between the pel generation logic and a laser control signal. The synchronization error is made as small as propagation delays through a single multiplexer element. Such delays can be controlled to values less than 1/2 ns. The need to stop and restart the clocks is eliminated. All complex pel generation logic is clocked with the relatively low frequency PELCLK without regard to the synchronization task.

摘要： An image forming apparatus is disclosed that is capable of making it simple to initialize a laser system thereof. The image forming apparatus includes a first photo detector that detects a part of a laser beam from each of the lasers and generates respective power adjustment signals for the lasers, a second photo detector that detects another part of the scanning laser beam of each of the lasers and generates a synchronization signal corresponding to each laser, and a power adjustment control unit that changes the output power of each of the lasers to a predetermined value. During the adjustment of output powers of the lasers, the power of a laser is monitored by using the synchronization signal. The power adjustment control unit turns on a laser for power adjustment, and turns off the laser when the scanning synchronization signal is detected twice to complete the power adjustment of the laser, and then starts power adjustment of the next laser.

摘要： A system and method (10) of deflecting a laser beam (20) in a laser printer for providing enhanced resolution and reduced banding effects. Specifically, to enhance resolution, the laser beam is deflected from a white space area adjacent an image to double resolution at the edges of the image. Similarly, banding is reduced by deflecting the beam to compensate for drum rotational and translational errors. The beam is deflected using an electro-optic modulator (25) placed between the laser diode (15) and the scanning mirror (30). Encoders (55,60) detect drum rotational errors and motion between the optics unit and the drum to provide a closed loop feedback system for reducing banding.
