    • The invention relates to a method for printing a digital image on a media object lying on a flatbed surface of a printer, the printer comprising a print head for ejecting recording material on the media object, a camera system connected to the control unit and positioned above the flatbed surface, and a control unit for storing a digital image and controlling the printing of the digital image on the media object, the media object having a contour as seen from a point of view of the camera system towards the flatbed surface, a first point having a position on the contour at a particular height with respect to the flatbed surface, and a second point being one of a point of normal projection of the first point on the flatbed surface and a point having another position on the contour than the first point, the second point being at the same height as the particular height of the first point, and the control unit storing a distance between the first point and the second point, the method comprising the steps of capturing a camera image of the flatbed surface by means of the camera system,determining a first image position in the camera image corresponding to the first point,determining a second image position in the camera image corresponding to the second point, deriving an actual position of the first point by means of the position of the camera system, the first image position, the second image position and the stored distance, and printing the digital image on the media object by ejecting recording material on the media object while taking into account the derived actual position of the first point on the flatbed surface.

    • A printing system includes a plurality of imaging systems for capturing images of a receiver medium. An illumination system illuminates the receiver medium with an illumination pattern, thereby providing a reflected illumination pattern and a transmitted illumination pattern. A first imaging system is positioned to capture a first image of a first side of the receiver medium including the reflected illumination pattern, and a second imaging system is positioned to capture a second image of an opposing second side of the receiver medium including the transmitted illumination pattern. The first and second images are analyzed to determine a relative position of the reflected illumination pattern in the first image and the transmitted illumination pattern in the second image. Imaging system alignment parameters for use in aligning images captured with the first and second imaging systems are determined responsive to the determined relative position.

    • Method is provided for printing an image on a substrate on a support body of a printing apparatus, the method comprising the steps of: providing a masking sheet on the support body; deriving from the image a boundary outline of the image; selecting a location on the support body for printing the image; printing the boundary outline of the image on the masking sheet at the selected location of the support body; printing at least one distance marker on at least one side of the printed boundary outline on the masking sheet, said distance marker indicating a distance from the boundary outline; placing the substrate on the masking sheet at the selected location of the support body using the boundary outline; determining an offset of the substrate relative to the printed boundary outline by way of the printed distance marker, after the substrate placing step; and printing the image on the substrate based on the determined offset of the substrate relative to the printed boundary outline.
