    • There is provided a cutting insert for threading work for achieving high shape accuracy of a screw to be processed, as well as low costs. Therefore in the cutting insert for threading work, a plurality of mountain-shaped cutting edges are formed in a cross ridge line portion between a rake face (2) formed on an upper face and flanks formed in a side face as viewed from a side of the rake face (2), wherein the cutting edge comprises at least one finishing cutting edge (6a) for transferring a shape of a screw, and at least one roughing cutting edge (6b)formed in a mountain shape smaller than that of the finishing cutting edge (6a) as viewed from a side of the rake face (2). A flank (4a) of the finishing cutting edge (6a) includes a first flank (5a), and a second flank (5b) having a clearance angle larger than that of the first flank (5a) as viewed in a normal direction of the cutting edge, wherein the finishing cutting edge (6a), the first flank (5a), and the second flank (5b) are sequentially provided in that order.

    • The invention relates to a turning tool comprising a basic body (1) as well as an indexable turning insert (2) having a triangular basic shape, which is fixed in an insert seat (4) in the basic body. The turning insert is formed with three side surfaces (20) that are situated in an imaginary, equilateral triangle and therefore converge in pairs at an angle of 60° toward corners in which cutting edges (22) are included. The turning insert is connected to the insert seat via an interface, which comprises, on one hand, a single active, elongate and straight engagement member (27), e.g., a ridge, and three alternately usable engagement members (28), e.g., grooves, in the turning insert. The last-mentioned members (28) are located in a second, imaginary triangle having an equilateral shape, which is smaller than the first-mentioned triangle and rotated in relation to the same.
      In addition to the tool, the invention also relates to a turning insert as such.

    • An indexable threading and turning insert with integral pressed-in chip breakers, having a threading insert portion and a turning insert portion. Each of the threading insert portion and the turning insert portion has, respectively, an integral pressed-in chip breaker having ideal chip management characteristics. The indexable threading and turning insert has a substantially diamond shape having a first planar face, an opposite second planar face, and first, second, third and fourth insert faces extending between the first and second planar faces, wherein the threading insert portion is contiguous a first corner formed by intersection of the first and second planar faces and the turning insert portion is contiguous a second corner formed by intersection of the third and fourth insert faces, the second corner being located opposite the first corner. The threading insert portion is characterized by a first cutting edge formed at the intersection of the first insert face and a first land and a second cutting edge formed at the intersection of the second insert face and a second land. Each of the first and second cutting edges is provided with a plurality of noses separated by gullets. First and second integral, pressed-in chip breakers, each in the form of a raised island, the incident face contour thereof corresponding to the nose-and-gullet contour of the respective cutting edge adjacent thereto. Preferably, the incident face contour has scalloped portions adjacent the noses. The turning insert portion is characterized by third and fourth cutting edges located, respectively, at the intersection of a third land with the third and fourth insert faces, and at the intersection of a fourth land with the third and fourth insert faces. Third and fourth integral, pressed-in chip breakers, each in the form of a raised island corresponding to the contour of the respective cutting edge adjacent thereto, preferably having a double-stepped, wing backed shape in registry with respect to the second corner.
