摘要： A filter system includes a set of modules, each module including screen assemblies and filter media sandwiched between the screen assemblies. A plurality of control assemblies are associated with each of the modules. Each of the control assemblies is in fluid communication with a corresponding module to control flow through the corresponding module. The control assemblies selectively control fluid in each of the modules between at least one of a forward flow through the screen assemblies to treat an influent flow, a bypass flow to bypass at least one of the modules, and a reverse flow to backwash a given filter media. A method of filtering influent includes providing an influent flow to a set of modules, each module including screen assemblies and filter media sandwiched between the screen assemblies. The influent is filtered by directing the influent through the set of modules. A given module is bypassed when the given module becomes occluded. The occluded module is backwashed by providing a reverse flow through the screen assemblies and the filter media.

摘要： Apparatus for inhibiting fines carryover in the form of a settlement tank comprising: a filter which divides the tank into upper and lower portions; a fluid inlet in the lower portion for admitting into the tank a fluid with entrained solids; and a fluid outlet in the upper portion through which filtered fluid can leave the tank. The filter comprises filter media supported on a permeable wall, the wall including a filter media outlet which is normally closed, and opening means for opening the filter media outlet to allow the filter media to discharge into the lower portion of the tank. The invention also relates to a method of refilling the filter with filter media.

摘要： An apparatus for separating solid particles, such as amalgam waste from waste water in dentists' surgical units, is described. The apparatus comprises a closed, liquid-filled container (1) having an inlet (2) and an outlet (3) and incorporating at least one sedimentation zone (4, 12) and at least one filter body (6, 13). The sedimentation zone preferably comprises an absorption material, such as alumina fibres. The filter body (6, 13) which may be provided for vertical or horizontal liquid throughflow, consists of filter medium balls which preferably are made of alumina and have a diameter of 0.5-15 mm, enclosed between two perforated walls (8,9). The filter body is self-cleaning in that it is not completely filled with filter balls, and in that the balls have a density such that they either float in or are carried along by the liquid passing through the separation container (1) so that the balls are collected against the perforated wall of the filter body emitting the liquid, whereby the filter medium balls are set in motion by the flowing liquid and rubbed against each other.

摘要： A paving element includes upper and lower surfaces and one or more drainage channels extending through the paving element between the upper and lower surfaces. The drainage channels include a substantially concave or cupule shaped upper portion, provided on the upper surface of the paving element, and a channel from the concave portion through to the lower surface of the bottom surface of the paving element. The drainage channels can be complete, when provided in the interior of the paving element, or partial, when provided along the sides or perimeter of the paving element.
