    • Shooting game apparatus comprising a shooting unit (100) and a remote controller (600) for operating the shooting unit (100). The shooting unit (100) comprises a body (110), a plurality of rotatable members (112/114) supporting the body (110) for free movement on a horizontal surface, a receiver (510) provided at the body (110) for receiving a control signal from the remote controller (600). The shooting unit (100) includes a moving mechanism (200) at the body (110) and operable by the remote controller (600) via the receiver (510) for turning the rotatable members (112) to move the body (110) to aim at a target, and a shooting mechanism (300) at the body (110) and operable by the remote controller (600) via the receiver (510) for shooting a game piece (10) at the target. The remote controller (600) comprises a transmitter (620) and a plurality of manually operable switches (611-615) for controlling the transmitter (620) to generate a said control signal for receipt by the receiver (510).

    • The control circuit of the invention consists of a solenoid which generates a high propelling force when the player closes a flipper switch. A primary timer circuit decreases the power when the flipper switch is held closed by a player for more than a predetermined length of time such that only a lower holding power is delivered. Thereafter, if the flipper begins to slip from its holding or static position, a sensor activates a maintenance timer circuit which again generates the higher propelling force. The maintenance timer circuit lowers the power after another predetermined length of time has expired. If the flipper again beings to slip, the maintenance timer circuit is reactivated and the cycle is repeated. Once the player releases the flipper switch, the solenoid is de-energized and both timer circuits are reset until such time as the player again depresses the flipper switch. In this manner, only the power necessary to maintain the desired mode of operation is delivered to the solenoid such that overheating and failure of the solenoid is avoided.
