摘要： This invention is a flexible, elongate probe (20) having a distal end for insertion through physiological tissue, preferably through a lumen in the tissue. The probe (20) includes a sensor (28), which generates signals indicative of a characteristic of the tissue in a vicinity of the probe (20), and an alignment mechanism which deflects the distal end of the probe (20) in response to the signals. The signals may be indicative of obstructions or of the direction of a clear channel in the lumen. The sensor (28) preferably comprises one or more ultrasound transducers (32).

摘要： This invention is an invasive probe apparatus including a flexible, elongate probe (20), having a distal end (22) for insertion into the body of a subject. The probe includes first and second position sensors (28, 30), fixed in a known relation to the distal end, which generates signals responsive to position coordinates thereof, and at least one contact sensor (70) along a radial surface thereof, which generates signals responsive to the contact of the radial surface with a surface inside the body. The apparatus further includes signal processing circuitry (36), which receives the position/responsive and contact/responsive signals, and processes them to determine the locations of a plurality of points along the length of a portion of the probe in a vicinity of the first and second position sensors.
