    • Die Erfindung besteht in einem Verfahren und einer Vorrichtung zur Aufbereitung und Konservierung von Futterstoffen und/oder Erntegütern mittels kombinierter Mikrowellen- und Lufttrocknung und umfaßt, daß

      (a) das zu behandelnde Gut ggf. nach Bestimmung seiner Ausgangsfeuchte (6) einer Mikrowellenvorbehandlung (5) mit einer Energie unterzogen wird, welche zum Aufbrechen der Zelloberflächenstruktur führt und bei welcher die Zellflüssigkeit weitgehend erhalten bleibt;
      (b) anschließend das vorbehandelte Gut einer Niedrigtemperatur-Lufttrocknung (8) je nach Zwischenfeuchte (11) in einem Temperaturbereich von 70 bis 110°C unterworfen wird, wobei hier der überwiegende Teil der Gutfeuchte entfernt wird und dabei
      (c) eine vorbestimmte Restfeuchte des getrockneten Guts eingestellt wird und daß
      (d) eine Abwärmerückgewinnung aus den Einrichtungen zur Verfahrensdurchführung und ggf. weiteren Einrichtungen zum Betreiben bzw. Vorheizen der Lufttrocknungseinrichtung durchgeführt wird.

    • The material includes a drying agent with a pH of at least 11 and which becomes at least partially insoluble at a pH below 13.4. The drying agent saponifies the wax on the stems as the plant dries and as the pH of the drying agent accordingly increases. The drying agent is selected from the carbonates, phosphates and silicates of sodium and potassium and a combination of the hydroxides, carbonates and bicarbonates of sodium and potassium: It is applied at 3 to 6 pounds per ton of dried cut plant.
      The material also includes a mold inhibiting agent which remains inactive until the occurrence of conditions of temperature and moisture inducing molding, whereupon it reacts with the moisture to inhibit the formation of the mold. The mold inhibiting agent may be selected from acids and acid salts of propionic, sorbic and carboxylic acids and other fatty acids and used in concentration between approximately 2½ and 5 pounds per ton of dried cut plants.
      The material is applied to plants 16 by bending the plants with bars 12 and 18 to facilitate spraying by nozzles 22. After cutting by blade 26 the plants are assembled into windrows 30 by auger 28. The apparatus may include separate nozzles for spraying the leaves primarily with mold-inhibiting agent and the stems primarily with drying agent and means for controlling the rate of spraying in accordance with the mass of the plants as determined by sensors on the bending bars.

    • The invention provides a method for manufacturing intermediate products for preparation of animal feeds comprising the steps of:

      a) heating a crude granular raw material in a heating device; and
      b) subject the heated raw material to a final rocessing in order to obtain the intermediate product; wherein energy from the heating process is recovered by:

      i) feeding the heated crude raw material from the heating device to a container;
      ii) placing the heated raw material in contact with cold air in counterflow to the feed of the heated raw material in order to heat and moisten the cold air and to cool and dry the raw material;
      iii) feeding the heated moist air back to the heating device.


      The invention relates in particular to a method wherein the heating process is a so-called toast process.
      The invention further comprises a system of devices for applying the method comprising a heating device, means for feeding the crude raw material to the heating device, a container for temporary storage of the heated raw material, discharge means and feed means for the heated raw material from and respectively to the heating device and the container, means for supplying cold air to the heated raw material stored in the container in counterflow to the feed of the heated raw material, discharge means and feed means for the cooled raw material from and respectively to the container and a final processing device, and means for discharging heated moist air to the heating device.
