摘要： A good way to avoid extreme current levels when supplying large amounts of power is to increase the voltage. The easiest way to do this is connecting the radiation elements (e.g. laser diode pixels) in series (La1 to La-n). In such a pixelated driver, the amount of components and complexity per pixel are reduced by connecting as many radiation elements as possible in series, supplying the string by one current controlled driver (Is), shortening pixels which should be in off state by a switch in parallel (40-1 to 40-n) to the radiation element, storing binary on/off information (30-1 to 30-n) for each pixel locally, creating a floating supply (20-1 to 20-n) for the switches, and managing information transfer to the floating storage and switches.

摘要： The invention describes a laser sensor module (100) for particle size detection. The laser sensor module (100) comprises at least one first laser (110), at least one first detector (120), at least one electrical driver (130) and at least one evaluator (140). The first laser (110) is adapted to emit first laser light in reaction to signals provided by the at least one driver (130). The at least one first detector (120) is adapted to determine a first self -mixing interference signal (30) of an optical wave within a first laser cavity of the first laser (110). The first self-mixing interference signal (30) is caused by first reflected laser light reentering the first laser cavity, the first reflected laser light being reflected by a particle receiving at least a part of the first laser light. The evaluator (140) is adapted to determine a size of the particle by determining a first relative distance between the particle and the first laser (110) by means of the first self-mixing interference signal (30) and by determining a first amplitude information by means of the first self-mixing interference signal (30). The invention is further related to a corresponding method of determining a particle size.

摘要： The present invention relates to a laser device being formed of at least one VCSEL (15) with intracavity contacts. The VCSEL comprises a layer structure (18) with an active region (6) between a first DBR (4) and a second DBR (10), a first current-injection layer (5) of a first conductivity type between the first DBR (4) and the active region (6), and a second current-injection layer (8) of a second conductivity type between the second DBR (10) and the active region (6). The first and second current-injection layers (5, 8) are in contact with a first and a second metallic contact (11, 12), respectively. The first and/or second DBR (4, 10) are formed of alternating Aluminum oxide and Al(x)Ga(1-x)As containing layers. The proposed design of this VCSEL allows an increased efficiency and lower production costs of such a laser since the top and bottom DBRs may be formed of a considerable reduced thickness.
