摘要： The present invention provides an OLED in which an organic thin film layer comprising a single layer or plural layers is provided between a cathode and an anode, where the organic thin film layer comprises at least one light emitting layer, and the at least one light emitting layer comprises (a) a host material represented by the following Formula (1): Ra—Ar1—Ar2—Rb (1) where Ar1, Ar2, Ra and Rb represent a substituted or unsubstituted benzene ring or a condensed aromatic hydrocarbon group selected from a substituted or unsubstituted naphthalene ring, chrysene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted fluoranthene ring, triphenylene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted phenanthrene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted benzophenanthrene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted dibenzophenanthrene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted benzotriphenylene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted benzochrysene ring, a substituted or unsubstituted picene ring and a substituted or unsubstituted benzofluoranthene ring; and (b) at least one phosphorescent material comprises a phosphorescent organometallic complex having a substituted chemical structure represented by one of the following partial chemical structures represented by the formulas: wherein each R is independently hydrogen or an alkyl substituent having 1-3 carbon atoms, and wherein at least one ring of the formula has one or more of said alkyl substituent.

摘要： A compound is disclosed that has a metal coordination complex structure having at least two ligands coordinated to the metal; wherein the compound has a first substituent R 1 at one of the ligands' periphery; wherein a first distance is defined as the distance between the metal and one of the atoms in R 1 where that atom is the farthest away from the metal among the atoms in R 1 ; wherein the first distance is also longer than any other atom-to-metal distance between the metal and any other atoms in the compound; and wherein when a sphere having a radius r is defined whose center is at the metal and the radius r is the smallest radius that will allow the sphere to enclose all atoms in the compound that are not part of R 1 , the first distance is longer than the radius r by at least 2.9 Å.

The internal extraction layer includes a material having a refractive index that is higher than the refractive index of a transparent electrode in the device, and a non-planar interface disposed between the material and the substrate. Devices are also provided that include an external extraction layer having a non-planar surface which, when used in conjunction with an internal extraction layer, provides greatly improved outcoupling of light generated by the device.

The hybrid layer comprises a mixture of a polymeric material and a non-polymeric material, wherein the weight ratio of polymeric to non-polymeric material is in the range of 95:5 to 5:95, and wherein the polymeric material and the non-polymeric material are created from the same source of precursor material. Also disclosed are techniques for impeding the lateral diffusion of environmental contaminants.
