    • Display devices suffer gradual deterioration due to heating effects. This heating is due to the light sources of the backlight, the driver electronics or the sun in the case of outdoor displays. Conventional cooling schemes for displays involving a fan and air-filter are costly to maintain and repair as well as being thick and aesthetically unattractive. In the present display device, a cooling plate (100) having a refrigerant inside is provided at the rear of the backlight (49). Cooling is achieved by phase changes occurring in the refrigerant: evaporation (thus absorbing heat) inside the cooling plate nearest to the heat source, diffusion to a cooler location followed by recondensation (thus releasing heat) inside the cooling plate furthest away from the display panel. Inside the cooling plate, further plates having a mesh stucture (120) and a wick-like structure (130) are arranged to facilitate the circulation of the refrigerant.

    • Provided is a display apparatus including: a case (10) having an inlet (14a) and an outlet (15); a display module (30) disposed in the case and including a display panel (31) configured to display an image; and a heat exchange device (50) configured to receive heat from the display module and including: a first portion (51) provided in a first cooling passage (100), air in the first passage moving over the display module, and a second portion (53) provided in a second cooling passage (200), air in the second cooling passage moving over the heat exchange device, wherein heat generated from the display module is transferred to the first portion via the air in the first cooling passage, wherein the heat transferred to the first portion is transferred to the second portion, and wherein outside air withdrawn by suction through the inlet is heat-exchanged in the second cooling passage with the second portion and discharged through the outlet.
