    • The present invention provides an artificial blood vessel system which can suppress the occurrence of the stagnation of a blood flow and, eventually, the occurrence of the thrombus, can enhance the reliability of the connection, and can prolong the lifetime of the artificial blood connecting structure. In the artificial blood vessel system which includes an artificial blood vessel, a tubular connecting member which is connected with the artificial blood vessel, and connecting assist means for strengthening the connection between the artificial blood vessel and the tubular connecting member, the connecting assist means is configured to be capable of bringing the artificial blood vessel into pressure contact with the tubular connecting member not only along the radial direction of the tubular connecting member but also at an artificial-blood-vessel-side distal end of the tubular connecting member.

    • The blood pump (10) according to the present invention comprises a casing (20) having a blood inlet (16) and a blood outlet (18), and an impeller (22) for circulating blood by rotating inside the casing (20), wherein both the casing's and the impeller's surfaces in contact with blood are formed of a biocompatible metal, and onto the surfaces in contact with blood a coating film of a hemocompatible material comprising a phospholipid polymer is formed. According to the present invention, the blood pump (10) effectively suppresses the development of thrombi without activating blood coagulation factors such as thrombocites (blood platelets) in the blood, thanks to a coating film of a hemocompatible material made of a phospholipid polymer being formed onto the surfaces in contact with blood of the casing (20) and the impeller (22) composing the main part of the blood pump.

    • An artificial internal organ, such as an artificial heart, comprising a pump unit (4) through which blood circulates and a drive shaft (10) for driving the pump unit, the drive shaft having a shaft sealing system (22, 27) thereon. The shaft sealing system is supplied with a sealing solution from a sealing solution chamber (21) and a sealing solution bag (12). The sealing solution is formed mainly of a physiological saline, which is loaded with a protease or several kinds of aminopeptides. When blood gets into the shaft sealing system (22, 27), it is prevented from coagulating by these admixtures. Although blood in the shaft sealing system (22, 27) of this type coagulates in a unique mechanism different from a conventional one, the protease and the aminopeptides never lose their effects even in such a unique situation.
