摘要： A liquid crystal display device enabling realization of greater thinness, smaller area, and narrower frame and an electronic device using the same are provided. For this purpose, the liquid crystal display device of the present invention comprises a first substrate (16), a pixel unit (12) formed on the first substrate (16) and having pixels arranged in a matrix, a second substrate (62) arranged facing the first substrate (16), a liquid crystal composition (63) held between the first substrate (16) and the second substrate (62), and peripheral circuits formed on the first substrate (16) for writing pixel signals to the pixel unit (12), at least part of the peripheral circuits (13) of the above peripheral circuits being formed by thin film transistors on the first substrate (16), the remaining part of the peripheral circuits (23, 24, 25) of the above peripheral circuits being formed by semiconductor chips, and the semiconductor chips being arranged on the first substrate (16) so that at least part of the semiconductor chips overlap the regions of the peripheral circuits formed by the thin film transistors.

摘要： A thin film semiconductor device comprising a thin film transistor (TFT) having a thin film semiconductor on an insulation substrate to define an element region, and a hygroscopic interlayer dielectric (5) which covers said element region. A hydrogenation treatment which comprises said interlayer dielectric provided thereon a cap film for blocking hydrogen diffusion, so that water entrapped by the interlayer dielectric may be decomposed to generate hydrogen which is allowed to diffuse into the thin film transistor provided on the side opposite to that of the cap film.

摘要： A car-mounted display device improves the visibility of a display image from the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat and prevents the display image from being reflected in side windows, and a car navigation system uses the car-mounted display device as a monitor. In a case in which a liquid crystal display device is disposed at the center of a dashboard, the visibility at the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat is optimized by setting the change in luminance or contrast to be approximately 20 dB (10x) or less within an angle of approximately 40° on the right and left sides of the center. Moreover, the luminance or contrast is set to decrease by -20 dB or more beyond approximately 40° on the right and left sides of the center.

摘要： An active-matrix-type liquid crystal display device supplies signal potentials to signal lines of a liquid crystal display panel (14) according to a time-division drive method using time-division switches (30-I, 30-k). The low-level potential of select pulses to be supplied from a select pulse generating circuit (36) to CMOS analog switches (31, 32, 33) of the time-division switches (30-I, 30-k) is set to be lower than the low-level potential of a signal potential outputted from a horizontal drive circuit (22). With this arrangement, even if the signal potential of a non-selected signal line is decreased due to the crosstalk of a signal potential from a selected signal line to the non-selected signal line, the generation of insufficient contrast and non-uniformity of the luminance in the horizontal direction can be prevented. As a consequence, a high image quality is maintained.
