    • A signal amplifier circuit is provided with a buffer amplifier (1) and an adjusting circuit (2) for detecting a difference in voltage between a reference voltage (V o ) and an output voltage (V o + ΔV) of the buffer amplifier when the reference voltage (V o ) is inputted to the buffer amplifier (1) as an offset voltage, and for inputting a voltage obtained by subtracting the offset voltage (ΔV) from the voltage of an input signal so as to cancel out the offset voltage. An image display device of the present invention includes the above signal amplifier circuit. According to the above arrangement, the offset voltage (ΔV) can be cancelled out. Therefore, the signal amplifier circuit having a desirable buffer characteristic that a voltage having the same level as the voltage of the input signal can be outputted even if the offset voltage is generated in the buffer amplifier. By adopting the above signal amplifier circuit, an image display device which permits a high quality image display can be achieved.

    • An active matrix driving method for driving a display apparatus including a plurality of pixels for receiving image data, a ferroelectric member for controlling the plurality of the pixels, and a plurality of scanning signal lines and a plurality of data signal lines for driving the plurality of the pixels utilizing a memory function caused by spontaneous polarization of the ferroelectric member. The matrix driving method includes the steps of applying a reset pulse having a first polarity and a data writing pulse having a second polarity to one scanning signal line selected from the plurality of the scanning signal lines throughout a specified selection period ; applying a reset pulse having the second polarity and a data pulse having the first polarity or a level of 0 to each of the plurality of the data signal lines in synchronization with the reset pulse and the data writing pulse applied to the selected scanning signal line ; applying a reset compensating pulse having the second polarity and a data writing prohibiting pulse having the first polarity or a level of 0 to the selected scanning signal line throughout a period other than the specified selection period ; and applying a reset pulse having the second polarity and a data pulse having the first polarity or a level of O to each of the plurality of the data signal lines in synchronization with the reset compensating pulse and the data writing prohibiting pulse applied to the selected scanning signal line.
