摘要： A highly efficient liquid cooled, two phase heat exchanger includes a plurality of plate-like flattened tubes (22) in spaced, side-by-side relation. Header plates (10, 12) are located at the ends of the plate-like flattened tubes (22) and receive the same in sealed relation. Tanks (14,16) are sealed to each of the header plates (10,12). A liquid inlet (18) is provided to one of the tanks 14 while a liquid outlet (20) is provided to one of the tanks (16). A plurality of flattened serpentine tubes (40) in side-by-side relation are provided and each has a plurality of generated parallel, straight runs (42) located between its ends. A pair of headers (30,32) receive the ends of the serpentine tubes (40) and are in generally parallel relation. Each of the plate-like flattened tubes (22) is in nested relation between two adjacent straight runs (42) of the serpentine tubes (40) in heat exchange relation therewith and each of the serpentine tubes (40) is located between the header plates (10,12).

The heat sink (10) includes a plate (16) having first and second surfaces (18, 20), with the first surface (18) configured to receive heat from the surface (14) of the electronic component (12). The fin (26) is bonded to the second surface and includes a plurality of offset sidewall portions (48). In one form, a fan (22) is spaced above the second surface (20) to direct an impingement airflow (24) towards the second surface (20) substantially perpendicular to the second surface (20), and the serpentine, slit fin (26) underlies the fan (22) and is bonded to the second surface (20).

摘要： Degradation of membranes in fuel cells 10 due to dehydration by relatively dry incoming reactant gases is avoided through the use of a humidifier 36 and/or 40 in the incoming reactant streams, 12,14. At least one of the humidifiers 36, 40 is formed in a stack 66 having alternating flow passages 68, 70 with the former receiving reactant gases and including fins 102 therein and the latter receiving hot coolant from the fuel cell 10. The fins 102 in the flow spaces 68 are provided with a hydrophilic coating to foster filmwise evaporation of water introduced through a nozzle 82. The humidifier 36 and/or 40 causes the reactant gas to attain a desired dewpoint before it is provided to the membranes of the fuel cell 10.

摘要： A highly efficient parallel flow evaporator is provided by combining a pair of identical units (10), (12) wherein each includes a pair of identical, parallel, spaced headers (40) each having slots (44) receiving the ends of identical flattened tubes (22). Identical tanks (42) are bonded to each of the headers (40) and each has an identical central flat surface (52) and an identical, centrally located port (60). Fins (26) extend between adjacent tubes (22) in each unit (10), (12) and an inlet/outlet fixture (32) is bonded to the flat surfaces (52) of one pair of tanks (42) defined by adjacent tanks (42) of both of the units (10),(12). A cross-over fixture (30) is bonded to the flat surfaces (52) of the other pair of tanks (42) defined by the remaining tanks (42) of both of the units (10),(12). The invention minimizes the number of geometrically different parts, provides an improved distributor (140) for refrigerant, provides an improved inlet passage (108) that provides a uniform stream of refrigerant to the distributor (140) and provides for the direction of refrigerant emanating from the cross-over fixture (30) in a direction parallel to the tubes (22) for improved uniformity.
