    • [Problem] In a shaft member of a wheel rolling bearing device, local concentration of stress (stress concentration) which is generated by a load applied to flange portions that are formed by cold forging is suppressed.
      [Means for Resolution] A flange portion 21 which is formed by cold forging is configured by an outer flange portion 21d and an inner flange portion 21a. As viewed in the axial section, the inner flange portion 21a is formed to be thicker than the outer flange portion 21d. The shape of a flange surface which is on a side where a bolt seat is disposed is formed as the shape of a vertical surface which has a constant length in a radial direction, in the position of a radially basal end portion, and as the shape of an inclined surface 21c which becomes gradually thinner from the position of the shape of the vertical surface toward the radially outer side. In a plan view as viewed from the side of a shaft portion 10, a first flange surface joining portion 21f between the inclined surface 21c and the outer flange portion 21d is formed as a concave curved portion which surrounds a bolt hole 24 for a hub bolt 27.

    • [Problem] To provide a method of manufacturing a wheel rolling bearing device capable of manufacturing the wheel rolling bearing device using a simpler mold with higher efficiency, and capable of further enhancing rigidity of a caulked portion for securing an inner ring which is fitted to one end of a shaft portion.
      [Means for Solution] An outer ring 45 and rolling elements 50 are fitted to a shaft member 1 of the wheel rolling bearing device from a shaft end portion 15, and further, an inner ring 42 and rolling elements 51 are fitted to the shaft member 1. Then, the shaft end portion 15 is caulked to form a caulked portion 17, and thus, the inner ring 42 is secured. On this occasion, the shaft end portion 15 to be caulked has a solid columnar shape. A caulking jig P is pressed against the shaft end portion 15, and oscillated while the caulking jig P is pressed in a direction toward one end of a shaft portion 10, thereby to spread by caulking a face 15M to be caulked in the shaft portion having the solid columnar shape.

    • End faces in a push-in direction of swelling portions which swell from both side portions of a head portion are received by flat surfaces formed on receiving portions of a resilient piece. By the distal end faces of the swelling portions being received by the flat surfaces of the receiving portions, the head portion is positioned in a radial direction by a holding portion, whereby a pressing action (a resilient action) of the resilient piece can be applied forwards towards the head portion from a position lying further rearwards than the receiving positions.
