摘要： Disclosed is an optical recording an reproducing apparatus comprising a light source (1) directing a light spot toward a recording medium (7), a detection system (11 - 14) detecting light reflected from the recording medium to derive an electrical signal from the reflected light, an information processing circuit (9) modulating the intensity of the light spot according to writing pulses to record information on the recording medium and using the electrical signal to reproduce information from the recording medium, and a tracking servo circuit (22, 23) carrying out tracking servo operation on the basis of the electrical signal and including an extracting circuit connected to a source of extracting pulses having a pulse width at least equal to the writing pulse width so that writing pulse parts contained in the electrical signal are extracted during recording information, whereby a track offset occurring during information recording can be minimized, and the stability of the tracking servo system can be improved.

摘要： A magneto-optical disk comprises at least a transparent substrate (1) having V-shaped grooves (6) formed therein, a transparent film (3) having a greater refractive index than that of the transparent substrate and a magnetic film (4). Information is recorded between adjacent ones of the V-shaped grooves (6). The V-shaped groove (6) has a depth shallower than λ/6 and deeper than λ/8 where λ represents wave length of laser light with which the magneto-optical disk is irradiated. Optimal tracking signal can be obtained without lowering the push-pull signal intensity for the tracking.

摘要： In a wobble signal detecting circuit provided by the present invention, a wobble signal is converted into binary data before being supplied to a PLL circuit by way of a polarity switching circuit and a clock switching circuit. The PLL circuit outputs a recording/playback timing generation clock signal. The frequency of the recording/playback timing generation clock signal is divided by a frequency dividing circuit before being fed back to the PLL circuit. A difference in phase between the wobble signal and the feedback signal is detected by a phase inversion detecting circuit and, if the difference in phase exceeds a phase difference determined in advance, the phase inversion detecting circuit generates a polarity switching signal for switching the polarity of the wobble signal. The polarity switching signal is used to invert the polarity of the polarity switching circuit.

摘要： A magnetic field of a polarity corresponding to information to be recorded is applied while a recording spot having a high energy is irradiated to a magneto-optical recording medium (1) to record domains representing the information along a track. The recorded domains (106) are read out by a reproducing spot having a lower energy than the recording spot and a high resolution power along the track. A recording head (11) has an optical system (2 - 9) for irradiating the recording spot having the high energy to the magneto-optical recording medium (1) and a magnetic head (12) for applying a magnetic field having a polarity thereof switched in accordance with the information to be recorded, to an irradiation area of the recording spot, a reproducing head (300) has an optical system for irradiating the reproducing spot having the low energy by a laser beam having a wavelength of not larger than 600 nm and a magneto-optical signal detector for detecting a displacement of a polarization plane of a reflected light of the reproducing spot to read out the recording domains. The magneto-optical recording medium (1) is made of a recording film having a multi-layer structure (101 - 103) of alternate lamination of metal layers and dielectric layers.
