    • A twist-lock (36) for attaching a plastics shell (16) of a thermal probe (18) to a structural member such as a plastics intake manifold (10) of an internal combustion engine in a socket (14) in the structural member. The twist-lock includes hooks (50) on the plastics shell (16) which traverse an annular shoulder (38) at the bottom of the socket (14) through notches (46) in the shoulder (38) when the shell (16) is inserted in the socket (14) and which are captured by the shoulder (38) when the shell (16) is rotated in the socket (14) from an unlocked position to a locked position. The twist-lock (36) further includes a lug (68) on the shell (16) which co-operates with a cam edge (70) on a resilient lip (60) around an open end of the socket (14) to afford tactile representation of the progress of the shell (16) towards, and achievement of, the locked position and to prevent reverse rotation of the shell (16) from the locked position.

    • A PEM fuel cell having serpentine flow field channels (66a-66j) comprising a plurality of serially-linked serpentine segments (A-E) extending between inlet (72) and exhaust (74) manifolds. Each segment has an inlet leg (76), an exit leg (78), at least one medial leg (80) therebetween and hairpin curved ends connecting the medial leg(s) to other legs of the segment. A bridging section (92) of each flow channel connects adjacent segments of the same channel one to the next. The hairpin-curved ends of the medial legs are spaced from bridging sections by different distances depending on the difference in pressure in the bridging section and the hairpin-curved ends.

    • A fuel injection nozzle (14) has a tubular body (20) adapted to receive fuel, a tubular seat member (24) mounted to the body (20), the seat member (24) having an opening (26) for discharging fuel and a valve seat (28) surrounding the opening (26), a poppet valve member (30) engageable with the valve seat (28) to interrupt fuel flow through the opening (26), and an extension spring (32) anchored to the body (20) and to the valve member (30) and biasing the valve member (30) to engage the valve seat (28). The extension spring (32) is a helically-coiled spring with each coil lying close to the adjacent coils and with the coils at one end (44) overlying an end (46) of the body (20) to anchor the spring (32) to the body (20) and to cause fuel flowing through the nozzle (14) to pass between the coils of the spring (32); the spring (32) thereby acts as a filter for fuel to be discharged by the nozzle (14).
