The shell (44) has an inner conductive layer (52,54) disposed a predetermined distance from the extended portions of the conductor wires of the cable, the contacts, the point of interconnection therebetween, and/or from the tracings on the surface of the board such that when the conductive layer of the shell is connected to a predetermined potential, electrical characteristics are imparted to the elements in the transition region that closely match the electrical characteristics of the cable.
