    • A low cross-talk data cable and method of manufacturing the same, where a low-crosstalk data cable (5) includes a cable housing jacket (30) made of flexible insulating material for housing a multi-channel shielding member (20) and a plurality of conductors (10). A hollow multi-channel shielding member of the invention is formed during the cable pulling process from a single, flat, thin, self-adapting shielding tape. The multi-channel shielding member separates and prevents crosstalk between adjacent conductors. A grounded low-cross talk data cable is provided when a current drain wire is positioned down the center of the hollow multi-channel shielding member. Further, the low-crosstalk data cable may have a metallic outer shielding jacket positioned between the cable housing jacket and the combined conductor/multi-channel shielding member core. A second current drain wire may also be provided to enable grounding of the metallic outer shielding jacket.

    • A cable (10) includes a pre-selected number of binder units (12). Each binder unit includes an even number of paired couples of conductors (16a), evenly divided into quads (14), and an additional twisted pair of conductors (16b), coupled with and encircled around a length of a filler material (18), extended in parallel so the quads of conductor pairs (16a) surround the additional pair of conductors (16b) and the filler material (18). A binder unit wrap (20) encloses each binder unit and a foil free edge tape (24) is applied with the foil facing inwardly and a drain wire (25) pulled between the foil and the unit wrap. An overall core wrap (54) encloses each binder unit, and a shield is applied over the top of the overall core wrap such that the shield (52) surface faces inwardly for improved termination methods. An overall drain wire is placed between the overall core wrap (46) and overall shield (52) . The entire cable may be enclosed by a jacket or sheath (46). A method for forming the cable is also disclosed.

    • A balanced transmission shielded cable comprising an inner conductive shield (3) and an outer conductive shield (5) surrounding the inner conductive shield (3). In an annular region (A) defined between both shields (3, 5), unshielded twisted pairs (4) for signal transmission and shielded drain lines (6) are alternately disposed in annular array. The shielded drain lines (6) contact both shields (3, 5) and are led outside and grounded. Both shields (3, 5) surrounding the twisted pairs (4) and the shielded drain lines (6, 6) keep a substantially uniform distance with respect to conductive lines constituting the twisted pairs (4).
