Each of the common ink passages including at least a boundary region between one of the first pressure chamber rows and one of the second pressure chamber rows neighboring each other so that nozzles connected with the pressure chambers in the each pressure chamber rows face outward each other when viewing from the third direction, and each of the common ink passages not overlapping any of the nozzles.

    • An ink jet printer (1) is provided with an ink jet head (2). The ink jet head (2) comprises an ink passage body (4) and an actuator (21). The ink passage body (4) comprises a nozzle (8), an ink chamber (E1 to E4) communicating with the nozzle (8), and a pressure chamber (10) located between the nozzle (8) and the ink chamber (E1 to E4). The actuator (21) comprises a piezoelectric element (20) facing the pressure chamber (10). The piezoelectric element (20) comprises a piezoelectric layer (41), a first electrode (36) connected with a front face of the piezoelectric layer (41), a second electrode (37) connected with a back face of the piezoelectric layer (41), and a first insulator (42, 43) located between the second electrode (37) and the ink passage body (4). The ink jet printer (1) further comprises a device (50, 80) for maintaining the electric potentials of the ink passage body (4) and the second electrode (37) such that the electric potential of the ink passage body (4) is equal to or below the electric potential of the second electrode (37).

    • An inkjet head is composed of a plurality of plates stacked on each other. The plurality of plates includes a cavity plate (900) formed with a plurality of ink pressure chambers (911) and a plurality of manifold plates (500,400,300) for forming a manifold chamber being in fluid communication with the ink pressure chambers to distribute ink thereamong. Each manifold plate is provided with an opening formed therethrough with a portion (513,413,313) thereof being left in the opening. When the manifold chambers are stacked on each other, the openings of the manifold plates formed as above constitute a manifold channel taking the form of a closed loop. The portions of the manifold plates left in the openings are supported by a plurality of beams (514,414,314) formed on the manifold plates. The beams are thinner than respective manifold plates, and are arranged so as not to overlap each other when viewed in a direction the manifold plates are stacked.
