摘要： Particles for use in an image displaying device to display and erase images repeatedly through the flight or movement of particles by Coulomb force or the like, wherein the particles are coated with a resin; the particles are controlled with respect to the span of the distribution of particle diameters, the attenuation of electric charge, the change of surface hardness with temperature, tensile strength at break, Izod impact strength (with notch), Taber abrasion, tensile modulus, bending modulus or tear strength; the particles are composite particles; the particles are treated with a solution of an electric charge controlling agent; the particles are coated with a resin by the spray of a solution of the resin; the particles have one or more outer resin layers comprising a component having a refractive index different from that of the center portion thereof; and/or the particles comprises a resin component prepared by polymerizing a specific monomer. 摘要： An image display comprises an image display panel in which two or more kinds of particles having differenct color and charging characteristics are sealed in the space between two substrates at least one of which is transparent, the particles are subject to an electrostatic field produced by pairs of electrodes provided on the respective substrates, and particles are made to fly and move so as to display an image. (1) The display panel has matrix electrodes composed of pairs of electrodes arranged in a matrix, display drive is effected by applying a high potential VH or a low potential VL to each electrode of the matrix electrodes, each electrode is connected to an intermediate potential V0 between the potentials VH and VL through a small impedance when the potentials VH or VL are not applied to each electrode, (2) the image display has alternating voltage generating means for generating an altrernating voltage with the frequency swept, and the alternating voltage from the alternating voltage generating means is appied between paired electrodes during the interval of display on the image display panel, or (3) at least one of each pair of electrodes is composed of split electrodes, a voltage is applied between the split electrodes during the interval of display to fly and move particles between the split electrodes.

摘要： An image display unit provided with an image display sheet which seals at least two types of particles different in color and electrification characteristics into between two substrates, at least one of which being transparent, and gives electric field to the particles from an electrode pair consisting of electrodes provided on one or both of the substrates to send the particles flying and display an image. In a first embodiment, the process of forming an image to be displayed comprises the step of applying to between electrodes an electric field pattern in a direction of a particle A flying to a displaying-side substrate to form an image, and the step of applying a pattern reverse (negative) to the above pattern in an electric field direction of a particle B, different in color and electrification characteristics from the particle A, flying to a display-side substrate to form an image, whereby an image deleting step prior to the step of forming an image to be displayed can be omitted.
