    • The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a replicated magnetic reproduction medium, such as a magnetic-tape cassette provided with a music recording, which reproduction medium comprises a magnetic tape (1) having a plurality of tracks extending parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction at specified spacings within certain limits from one another. The reproduction medium thus manufactured serves for the reproduction of the replicated signals by means of a magnetic reproducing head having a plurality of transducing gaps situated at specified spacings within certain limits from one another. During reproduction a specified normal tape tension within certain limits is sustained, resulting in a normal surface pressure between the tape and the head face of the reproducing head.
      During replication the tape is moved over a head face of a magnetic replication head also having a plurality of transducing gaps with a certain spacing from one another.
      During the replication the tension in the tape is increased relative to said normal tension. Another characteristic feature is that, in order to compensate at least partly for deviations in the positions of the tracks which would arise as a result of the increased transverse contraction of the tape caused by the increased tension, the spacings between the centres of the transducing gaps of the replication head are smaller than those of the reproducing head.

    • The application relates to an information transfer system, comprising a receiver (3) and a transmitter (1) for transferring an information signal to the receiver (3) via a transfer medium (2). The information signal comprises main data and sub data. The sub data comprises coded text lines having a plurality of character codes. The receiver is provided with a character display unit (10) for displaying characters corresponding with the character codes in the coded text lines. The number of character display positions is less than the number of character codes in the coded text line. The receiver is provided with display control means (9) for controlling the display of characters corresponding to the character codes included in the coded text line in dependence on serial control codes included in the coded text line. The system enables that significant parts of the text information available in the sub data can be shown on both a full multi-line display units for displaying full text lines and a 1-line display with a relative small number of digits. The invention is very suitable for systems with small sized receivers, such as e.g. portable players and car radios, and receivers wit a display on its remote controller, because there is not much space available for a display unit.

Preferably, the system specification for the erase protection is such that, to indicate the impossibility of home recording, the prerecorded cassette does not have an erase protection opening at all. As a consequence, the prerecorded cassette (1) is not suitable, and can hardly be made suitable, for home recording. If the cassette is provided with a permanent label (55) the relationship between the recording and the information on the label will be maintained for the entire life of the cassette.

    • An apparatus (1) is intended for the storage and transport of an elongate endless tape (2). For this purpose the apparatus comprises a storage bin (3) in which at least a part of the tape is stored as a package of tape loops (2a). The bin (3) comprises main walls (4), an entrance wall (5) and an exit wall (9), the walls (5, 9) being formed with an entrance slot (6) and an exit slot (10) respectively, and outlet openings of first and second pneumatic means (15, 20) being provided near both slots to assist in the feed-in and feed-out of the tape. The main walls (4) of the bin (3) are disposed vertically or substantially vertically, the entrance slot (6) being situated near the upper side and the exit slot (9) near the lower side of the bin. At least one of the main walls (4) of the bin comprises discharge means (16) allowing fluid to escape from the bin, which discharge means (16) are spaced from the entrance wall (5) and from the exit wall (9). Near the bottom of the bin wall portions of the exit wall (9) extend in a V-shape towards the exit slot (10) and at their upper sides they are provided with outlets of pneumatic means (19) to form a fluid cushion inside the bin (3) by means of fluid jets which converge to each other in an upward direction, the upper side of the cushion being situated at a distance above the exit slot (10) and the package of tape loops (2) floating on said cushion.
