摘要： A dual-zoned, three-dimensional, resilient absorbent web is disclosed which is suitable as body-side liner for absorbent articles such as feminine pads, diapers and the like. When used as a liner in absorbent articles, the dual-zoned web combines the advantages of apertured films and soft, nonwoven cover layers in one structure while still being inherently hydrophilic. The liner comprises a web of wet-resilient, hydrophilic basesheet having a three-dimensional topography comprising elevated regions onto which hydrophobic matter is deposited or printed and a plurality of spaced apart depressed regions. In a preferred embodiment, the hydrophobic matter applied to the elevated regions of the basesheet comprises hydrophobic fibers in a contiguous nonwoven web which has been apertured or provided with slits or other openings, such that the apertures or openings overlay a portion of the depressed regions. The elevated hydrophobic regions enhance dry feel and promote fluid flow toward the lower hydrophilic regions, which comprise the exposed depressed regions of the basesheet. The basesheet is preferably in liquid communication with underlying absorbent material, most preferably a stabilized airlaid cellulosic material or compressed stabilized fluff such that the absorbent material can wick fluid out of the basesheet by capillary action. When soft, hydrophobic fibers are deposited on the elevated regions, the liner also has a soft, cloth-like feel in addition to a dry feel in use.

摘要： Thermal insulation products are provided which comprise air-laid MMVF material through which particulate additive is distributed substantially homogeneously, and the particulate additive is selected from the group consisting of silicon, aluminium, mica, silica and titania. The additive particles are bonded to the surfaces of the MMV fibres by a binder. The product may be a granulated product but preferably comprises a layer which is an air-laid MMVF batt or batt stratum through which the additive is distributed. Improved thermal insulation ( lambda value) is obtained.

摘要： A longitudinally extending web of lofty nonwoven abrasive surface treatment material is provided in a coreless roll form to the end user. Successive wraps of the nonwoven abrasive material have interengaging surfaces sufficient to maintain the material in a spirally wrapped configuration yet being readily separable. A plurality of longitudinally spaced and laterally disposed perforations through the web permit the user to successively separate the web into a plurality of sheets of abrasive surface treatment material. In a preferred embodiment, the roll is encased in a protective shrink wrap sheath, and each sheet is separated from the roll by separating said sheet from an innermost wrap of the roll. In another preferred embodiment, the abrasive surface treatment material includes abrasive particles of 1000 grade of finer.

摘要： A chemically charged-modified filter for removing charged, micron to sub-micron sized particles from an aqueous liquid, the filter being composed of a filter sheet having a plurality of individual exposed surfaces, at least a portion of which having a surface energy of less than about 45 dynes per centimeter; amphiphilic macromolecules adsorbed onto at least some individual exposed surfaces having a surface energy of less than about 45 dynes per centimeter, and chemical charge modifiers incorporated onto at least a portion of the amphiphilic macromolecules; so that when said charge-modified substrate is in contact with the aqueous liquid containing the charged, micron to sub-micron sized particles, said particles are adsorbed onto the chemically charge-modified filter. In particular, the amphiphilic macromolecules are amphiphilic proteins and the sub-micron sized particles may be waterborne pathogens, such as Vibrio cholerae, Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum. Also disclosed is a method of removing charged micron to sub-micron sized particles from an aqueous liquid in which an aqueous liguid containing charged, micron to sub-micron sized particles is passed through a chemically charge-modified filter.
