摘要： A bariatric treatment system (100) providing a comprehensive array of therapeutic services for the morbidly obese patient (118) is disclosed. The treatment system (100) generally comprises a stable bed frame (101) upon which is mounted a low air loss therapeutic mattress system (104). Integrated hardware and software controls (170) provide such therapies such as pulsation, percussion, rotation, cardiac chair, and Trendelenburg. Means are disclosed whereby the bariatric patient (118) may safely and comfortably enter and exit the bed (100) with relative ease. The bed (100) is adaptable for transport within a hospital, including such features as a TRANSPORT MODE wherein its lateral axis is minimized and battery backup (178) is provided to maintain necessary therapies during patient transport. A plurality of control means are disclosed for simplification of caregiver workload and ease of patient utilization.

摘要： An apparatus and method for properly positioning a patient to allow rapid and effective endotracheal intubation during an anesthetic induction is disclosed. The apparatus includes a plurality of inflatable sections for supporting the patient's head and upper back, where the inflatable sections are independently inflatable and deflatable with respect to one another so that the patient's ear and sternum can be aligned in the same horizontal plane. The apparatus also includes an anchoring means that is attached to at least one of the plurality of inflatable sections for anchoring the apparatus in place. An air system connected to the plurality of inflatable sections and including separate connections to the individual inflatable sections operates to provide air to the apparatus. The apparatus optionally includes an independently inflatable cylinder in the anchoring means that is used in pregnant patients.

摘要： In a lift and transfer device and method, a patient support assembly supported on a lift on a wheeled platform includes a main support arm pivoted to the lift. First and second transversely extending support arms respectively carrying a back support section and a leg support are cantilevered from the main support arm. The main support arm is positioned for lifting the patient from a bed. The main support arm is rotated from a first to a second angular position for lowering a patient to a wheelchair. First and second pivot arms each have an upper end pivotally supported to the back support section and a lower end having a torso grip pad positioned adjacent one side of the patient. Horizontal force applied by each torso grip pad and friction provide patient support. Further device forms are provided for bariatric patients and for use with other types of lifts.

摘要： A ceiling lift assembly includes first and second motor units which can be operated together in a dual mode configuration and which can be operated in a single mode operation, in which only one of the motor units is operative with the other motor unit being dormant. The system provides routines for switching between the single and dual modes of the assembly and which ensure that in each mode the necessary parts of the apparatus are in an operative condition, whereas those parts of the apparatus which are not used are placed in a storage condition to avoid inconvenience or injury to personnel and patients. The apparatus also includes a motor unit support device of a structure which can accommodate asymmetric loads, on one motor unit only without causing deformation of the support structure.
