摘要： A pneumatic tire and a method of fabricating a pneumatic tire are disclosed herein. The pneumatic tire includes a tread (10), sidewalls (20), and a carcass (103) including at least one carcass ply. One or more bead wire codes (105, 108) formed by stacking and arranging bead wires in a plurality of layers are formed on one or both sides of the carcass ply. One or more bead filler films (106, 107) are placed between the bead wire codes (105, 108). An end of the carcass ply (103) is wrapped around at least one bead wire code (105, 108). The wrap-around end (Tu) of the carcass ply (103) is disposed between neighboring bead wire codes (105) and (108) or beside the axially outermost bead wire code.

Rigidity at the part of each tire side portion (38) where the recessed portion (56) is formed is reduced. This enables each tire radial direction outside portion to be made to tilt over toward tire width direction outside with the recessed portion (56) as a point of origin without reducing the internal pressure, enabling the ground contact width of a tread portion (32) to be enlarged. Since there is no need to intentionally reduce the internal pressure in order to reduce the ground contact pressure, bead portions (12) do not tilt over more than necessary, and there is no reduction in the durability of the bead portions (12).

The non-pneumatic tire includes a pair of beads, including a first bead and a second bead, and a toroidal element. The toroidal element includes an inner region, an outer region, and a central region. At least a portion of the central region is more elastic than the inner and outer regions. The toroidal element includes a crown portion extending across the crown region of the non-pneumatic tire, a first sidewall portion extending along at least a portion of the first sidewall region of the non-pneumatic tire, and a second sidewall portion extending along at least a portion of the second sidewall region of the non-pneumatic tire. The toroidal element is pre-stressed such that when the non-pneumatic tire is mounted to a rim, the first sidewall portion of the toroidal element exerts a first axially outward force of at least 1000 pounds against the rim, and such that the second sidewall portion of the toroidal element exerts a second axially outward force of at least 1000 pounds against the rim.
