摘要： In order to rapidly modify the wave lengths of lasers, a rotary mirror (1) with apertures and configured like a blade wheel, is arranged in the laser resonator. Said mirror alternatingly allows the light to pass up to a grid (2) or deviates the light to at least a second grid (3) or to a second mirror. A pivoting mirror controlling a grid may be used instead of the apertured mirror. The pivoting mirror moves at a constant frequency but with a variable amplitude.

摘要： A dye laser capable of lasing at a plurality of wavelengths simultaneously, eg three, comprises a corresponding plurality of transparent containers 4, 5, 6 located between a partially-reflecting mirror 1 and a tiltably adjustable retroreflecting diffraction grating 2 with the containers transversely staggered. The staggered ends of the containers are irradiated by a shallow beam 9 from a pumping laser 7 and contain separate dye solutions whereof the emis-. sion spectra increase in wavelength nearest the pumping laser. There are thus formed three parallel cavities which can lase simultaneously, tuned by the grating 2 operating in three different diffraction orders.

摘要： A semiconductor laser comprising spaced apart optical cavities (3, 5) which are mutually optically coupled through cleaved mirror surfaces at facing ends of the cavities. Each cavity is provided with electrode mean (7, 9) whereby the optical characteristics of the laser can be tuned to provide a high intensity, singlefrequency mode light output. The frequency of the output mode can be shifted in precise amounts allowing use of the device in a frequency shift keying communications system. Also, greater stability of the light output is obtained by means of a feedback system (Fig. 20) utilizing certain detected characteristics of the output light.
