摘要： An in-phase/quadrature component (IQ) mixer (306) is configured to reject returns from a negative doppler shift swath in order to mitigate corruption of returns of a positive doppler shift swath. The mixer includes a sample delay element (330) which produces a quadrature component from the in-phase component of an input signal. Further included are a plurality of mixer elements (322, 332), a plurality of low pass filters (324, 334), a plurality of decimators (326, 336), and a plurality of all pass filters (328, 338) which act upon both the in-phase and quadrature components of the input signal. Also, a subtraction element (340) is included which is configured to subtract the filtered and down sampled quadrature component from the filtered and down sampled in-phase component.

摘要： Disclosed is a radar system capable of obviating a problem that a sufficient improvement of an S/N ratio could not be obtained in the prior art, and comprising a transmitter/receiver for detecting a phase of a receiving signal reflected from an observation target, an A/D converter for converting the receiving signal into a digital signal, a range gate for extracting the receiving signal having a time corresponding to the predetermined pulse width, a data dividing unit for dividing the receiving signals into two groups of data, an FFT unit for fast-Fourier-transforming one group of data of the two groups of data, an FFT unit for fast-Fourier-transforming the other group of data, a complex conjugating unit for taking a complex conjugate of an output of the FFT unit, a complex multiplying unit for performing a complex multiplication for the every same Doppler frequency component with respect to an output of the former FFT unit and an output of the complex conjugating unit, and a complex adder for executing a coherent addition of a result of the complex multiplication the same number of times as the repetitions with respect to the same Doppler frequency component. The receiving signals can be coherently integrated both in the pulse and between the pulses, and the S/N ratio can be improved.

摘要： A Doppler control circuit for a CW or pulse Doppler radar system for monitoring not only the phase shift between echo signals from several targets but also the amplitude difference between the several targets and to further tune the radar to a particular target among one or more targets from which echo signals return. The control circuit can be used in state of the art CW or pulse Doppler type radar systems. In a further system, a continuously generated radar signal is repeatedly transmitted at different frequencies in time division fashion to define a succession of transmit and receive frames. The receive frames are divided into a plurality of time interval windows with selected windows being used to detect received signals at the different frequencies. The remaining windows can be used for subsystems of the radar system. The rate of phase shift of received signals at a reference frequency is used to determine closing rate (positive or negative) while the phase shift difference between received signals at two frequencies is used to determine range and target direction. In yet a further system, a special circuit is provided for conditioning selected portions of the Doppler frequency spectrum to attenuate or de-emphasize portions of the echo signal corresponding to selected targets in the radar system environment, such as rain or stationary wayside objects, in order to give such echo signals less weight in determining roadway hazards.

摘要： A ranging system such as a radar system transmits signal pulses toward a diffuse target, such as an atmospheric disturbance. The echoes are processed by quantizing and by doppler filtering to produce a plurality of frequency components representing the radial velocities of various parts of the disturbance, which components are expected to be contaminated by an unknown amount of noise. The noise value is established by squaring the echo signals to produce power-representative signals. The signal samples are ranked according to amplitude, and one or more of the largest-value samples are discarded to reduce the order of the sample set. A Kolmogorov-Smirnov test statistic is generated and compared with a threshold established by the desired confidence level. If the test statistic exceeds the threshold, the order of the sample set is again reduced, and the test statistic again compared with the threshold. The noise level is deemed to be represented by the current reduced-order set when the test statistic does not exceed the threshold.
