The memory access unit comprises k sample collectors (29 1 ,...,29 k ; 80 1 ,...,80 k*m ), each sample collector operable to generate a memory select (CS) for a one of the k*m memories so as to transfer the sample between a predetermined position in a bus data word and the respective one of the k*m memories. Each sample collector (29 1 ,...,29 k ; 80 1 ,...,80 k*m ) is configured to calculate a respective memory select in dependence upon the address in each of the d dimensions such that each sample collector selects a different one of the k*m memories so as to allow the sample collectors to access k of the k*m memories concurrently. A memory controller may comprise m memory access units (74 1 ,...,74 m ) for handling transfers of samples in a d-dimensional array between m data buses (77 1 ,...,77 m ) and k*m memories (71 1 ,...,71 k*m ).

Furthermore, the frequency of the carrier wave is changed between the blocks, so that the transmitter transmits one block at a carrier wave frequency which is different from the carrier wave frequency or frequencies which the receiver is set to receive. A received binary coded signal is, after A/D conversion (1), supplemented with an additional value which is the measurement value with reversed sign, the measurement value or measurement value with reversed sign, respectively, being, in each time step, fed to different range bins (3), where the range bins (3) receive a sequence of measurement values, and in which the given, transmitted code unambiguously determines, for each time step, to which range bin (3) the measurement value or measurement value with reversed sign, respectively, is to be fed, the integration of inputted values in a range bin (3) providing information on a possible target in this range bin.

Erfindungsgemäß gibt die Sendeeinrichtung mindestens zwei unterschiedliche Trägerfrequenzen mit jeweils einer eigenen, voneinander unterschiedlichen Pulsfolgefrequenz ab, sind mindestens zwei parallele Empfangszweige mit jeweils einer, einer der Trägerfrequenzen zugeordneten Empfangseinrichtung und jeweils einem nachgeschalteten Bewegtzeichenfilter vorgesehen und ist mindestens ein Verknüpfungsglied (10,11,12,13) vorgesehen, über das die Zielechosignale von den Empfangszweigen an das Sichtgerät gelangen.
