    • A generator embodying the invention comprises a removable fuel tank that is easily accessible, and may be easily removed from the generator. The generator includes a frame that supports an engine and the fuel tank. The fuel tank is removably interconnected to the frame with at least one quick release fastener. The quick release fastener may include a bolt, a pivoting tab, a clamp, or other similar quick release fasteners. Preferably, the quick release fastener may be engaged by hand, and does not require additional tooling. A fuel line between the fuel tank and the engine includes a quick disconnect attachment that prevents fuel flow and easily detaches the fuel tank from the engine. The fuel tank may be removed from the frame, taken to a gasoline station for refilling, and reattached to the generator for operation.

The assembly 10 also includes pivot structure 44 and 46, associated with the supporting structure and the motor defining a pivot between the motor and the supporting structure with a center of the pivot being aligned with the axis of rotation.

    • An ordinance platform with a variable reluctance electric motor is provided. The motor has a stator integrated with a bearing race which is fixably connected with the tank body. The bearing race provides the function of a rotor and is fixably or integrally connected with the tank turret. The rotor is vertically supported by the stator for rotational movement by a plurality of ball bearings. The stator is formed having a plurality of individual phase segments which are arranged in an annular array. Each of the stator phase segments is provided with a phase winding and a plurality of stator pole teeth. The stator phase windings are connected individually to respective driver circuits so as to essentially create a plurality of individual stators about the rotor. The rotor race is formed and is provided with a plurality of rotor pole teeth which are disposed adjacent the stator pole teeth. Thus, when the phase windings of the individual stator phase segments are energized, the moveable race (integrated with the rotor and connected with the gun turret) is rotated relative to the stationary race (integrated with a stator and connected with the tank body), without any intermediate coupling device such as gears, belts and the like.

    • A system provides electrical power and compressed air includes a wheeled hand truck frame, an engine, a compressor, a generator, and a reservoir having several horizontally disposed cylindrical tanks in fluid communication and arranged in one or a few vertical planes. A portion of a lower-most tank of the reservoir is below the plane including the axle for the wheels; and the respective centers of gravity of the engine, the fuel tank, and the reservoir are arranged for relatively greater stability. A control system for the engine, generator, and compressor provides priority response to air demand and/or priority response to electrical power demand by reducing lower priority loads on the engine prior to increasing engine speed. A throttle controller moves the engine throttle from high speed to low speed in response to low demand for compressed air in combination with low demand for electrical power. The throttle controller includes a low demand valve and throttle positioning air cylinder. The low demand valve is operated by an electrical signal asserted in response to detecting a condition of low output current from the system.

    • A motor has a rotatably supported rotor shaft and a rotator that rotates together with the rotor shaft. The rotator includes a shaft insertion section that has an internal peripheral surface and a specified length in an axial direction in which the rotor shaft is inserted. The internal peripheral surface has a first internal peripheral surface of a small diameter and a second internal peripheral surface having a diameter slightly greater than that of the first internal peripheral surface. The first internal peripheral surface engages the rotor shaft under a pressure, and the second internal peripheral surface is slightly spaced a distance from the rotor shaft, such that a gap is created between the second internal peripheral surface and the rotor shaft. The rotor shaft is pressure-inserted in the first internal peripheral surface to be affixed to the rotator, and an adhesive is filled in the gap between the second internal peripheral surface and the rotor shaft to affix the second internal surface to the rotator.
