    • A deformable conductive elastomer excellent in reliability, linearity, and mechanical characteristics, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. Elastomer particles with a particle size of 10 through 300 &mgr;m and conductive particles with a particle size of 10 through 40 &mgr;m are almost uniformly dispersed in a non-conductive elastomer. Ceramic particles with a particle size of 1000 nm or less are also almost uniformly dispersed in the non-conductive elastomer. At least the non-conductive elastomer uncrosslinked, the elastomer particles, and the conductive particles are added to the dispersion medium, and the mixture is vibrated, mixed, and dried to crosslink the uncrosslinked non-conductive elastomer. At least the non-conductive elastomer, the elastomer particles, and the conductive particles are added to the dispersion medium, and the mixture is vibrated, mixed, and dried.

    • A conductive polymer is disclosed which is suitable for use in applications which require corrosion resistance including resistance to corrosion when subjected to acidic flow at temperature ranging from −40 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and which can be molded such as by compression and/or injection molding techniques, into highly intricate and thin specimens without significant post machining. and which exhibit consistent conductivity, sufficient strength and flexibility, and appropriate surface characteristics. In particular the invention involves molding resin composition, which have high loadings of conductive fillers. Further the compositions may include rheological modifiers such as Group II oxides and hydroxides; carbodiamides; aziridines; polyisocyanates; polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE); perfluoropolyether (PFPE), and polyethylene. In an additional embodiment of the invention, an anti-shrink additive is added to improve the characteristics of the molded fuel cell plate.

    • Carbon fiber-filled, thermoplastic resin compositions having improved electrical properties at a given level of carbon fibers are formed from thermoplastic resin and carbon fibers associated into bundles with a binder. The thermoplastic resin and the binder are selected to be incompatible such that the adhesion of the fiber to the resin is poor. An exemplary composition is formed from a thermoplastic polymer selected from among polystyrene, high impact polystyrene, polycarbonate, polybutylene terephthalate, polyethylene terephthalate, polyphenylene ether, polyether imide and blends thereof; and carbon fibers associated into bundles with a polyamide terpolymer binder. The bundles are dispersed within the thermoplastic polymer. The compositions can be used for injection molding of articles for use as components in applications requiring static dissipation and/or EMI shielding. Such articles include electronic devices, dust handling equipment and notebook computer enclosures.
