    • A power transfer device including a main clutch, a cam mechanism and an electromagnetic pilot clutch mechanism coaxially assembled within a cylindrical space between an external cylindrical rotary member and an internal rotary member, wherein an electromagnetic coil of the pilot clutch mechanism is applied with an electric current to produce pilot torque, the cam mechanism is applied with the pilot torque to produce thrust force in an axial direction, and the main clutch is engaged by the thrust force applied from the cam mechanism to effect drive connection between the rotary members. In the power transfer device, residual thrust force of the cam mechanism is electrically or mechanically decreased at an instance when differential rotation of the rotary members is reversed.

    • A coupling for a vehicle includes a pilot clutch 15, a main clutch 13, a pressing system 21 and a coupling mechanism 17. The pilot clutch 15 generates a pilot torque and is operated by operating means 19. The main clutch 13 connects torque members 11 and 9 and transmits transmitted torque. The coupling mechanism 17 operated by the pilot torque converts the pilot torque into a pressing force for coupling the main clutch 13 via the pressing system 21 by use of a cam thrust force thereof. The main clutch 13 is disposed outside the pilot clutch 15 in a radial direction, and respective members of the pressing system 21 are mutually positioned and designed to move unitarily in a pressing direction, thus sliding portions caused by the main clutch 13 is connecting and disconnecting are limited to being on a side of the main clutch 13.

    • An electromagnetic clutch reduces clutch operating noise at a low cost by utilizing elastic members which are suited to a spring force of a leaf spring. An approximate nonagonal leaf spring has an outer ring portion, attachment portions connected to a hub, and connecting portions. Under the outer ring portion, securing portions of an armature are disposed. First elastic members are disposed at intermediate points of the securing portions, and a second elastic member is disposed in a gap between the leaf spring and the hub along an axial direction. When actuating the electromagnetic clutch, the leaf spring compresses the second elastic member, and when stopping the electromagnetic clutch, the armature collides with the first elastic member so that an axial position of the armature is secured.

    • A driving torque transmission control apparatus that is rotatably supported onto a vehicle body through a support bearing supported by a bearing holding device including an absorber and a bearing holding member, and that is serially disposed between driving force transmission axles. The apparatus further includes a first rotating member and a second rotating member rotatably connected around a common axis relatively with each other, to electro-magnetically control a driving torque transmitted from one of driving force transmission axles to the other thereof. A frictional engage section is provided between the first and second rotating members, to transmit from one of the first and second rotating members to the other thereof. Between the first and second rotating members, there is provided an annular electro-magnet to control a transmission torque of the frictional engage section. Further, an engage member provided on a support bearing to be engaged with the electromagnet to prevent rotation of the electromagnet with the first and second rotating members.
