    • A process for the continuous production of transdermal therapeutic patches, wherein a laminate of an auxiliary layer (3) siliconized at least on one side, an active substance-containing, pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (4), and a supporting layer (9) is prepared as a strip-shaped web (1) first, and the active substance-containing sections (4') obtained by punching said layers (3) and (4) across the web direction are intermittently transferred onto a second web (2), the punching procedure taking place in the rest phase between the cycles and the transfer procedure onto the second web (2) being carried out preferably at equal distances by means of a transfer device (11, 12), is characterized by the fact that the supporting layer (9) is stripped from the active substance-containing sections (4') during the transfer first, and that then the sections (3') of the auxiliary layer are removed with the aid of a process layer (5) which has been rendered pressure-sensitive adhesive.

    • The Conventional Direct Glazing invention concerns a process for securing fixed panes of inorganic or organic glass to vehicles or parts thereof, in which flexible structural components and or sealing strips are prefitted by a weld strip between them and the pane by thermally activating the weld strip and thus producing a seaming effect on the pane, and pane modules thus produced. A pane module thus produced can subsequently be conventionally fitted to the coachwork on the assembly line using fitting strings without any further auxiliaries and working process. Owing to the material used for the flexible structural component and or sealing strip, the sealing quality corresponds to that of direct glazing. If the residual heat from the manufacture of the pane is used as the activation heat for the sealing strip, considerable economies are achieved in the manufacturing process for the pane module.

The foodware article of the present invention includes a metal foodware article having an inner food-contacting surface and an outer heat source-contacting surface, a bonding layer deposited on a portion of the outer heat source-contacting surface, and a first ceramic layer deposited adjacent to a portion of the bonding layer, the first ceramic layer selected from (Ti,Al)N, (Ti,Al)CN, (Ti,Al,X)N, or (Ti,Al,X)CN. A top layer of TiCN can be deposited adjacent to the first ceramic layer. There may optionally be alternating layers of a third ceramic selected from (Ti,Al)N, (Ti,Al)CN, (Ti,Al,X)N, or (Ti,Al,X)CN and a fourth ceramic selected from TiN, TiCN, XN or XCN deposited adjacent to the bonding layer and below the first ceramic layer. The alternating layers can be repeated as many times as desired. A method of making such a foodware article is also disclosed.

    • Manually controlled semi-automatic apparatus for desplicing film strips particularly as part of a photofinishing process includes a desplicing station mounted on a rocking arm for automatically positioning the desplicing station at first and second splice regions of the splice tape for separation of successive film strips from the splice tape in successive desplicing cycles. A tensioning mechanism, including actuator operated tensioning rollers, is mounted entirely on one side of the desplicing mechanism and operates automatically to tension the splice film during the first desplicing cycle in which one film strip is removed from the splice tape and to tension a splice tape pickup web and remaining film strip during the second desplicing cycle, the tensioning mechanism minimizing operator handling of the film during the desplicing operation.

    • Strips, gaskets and shipping seals may be installed for various industries. A toner cartridge of a laser printer, copier or facsimile machine has various strips in it for various functions. Among the strips are recovery blades, spreader blades, wiper blades, certain shipping seals, doctor blades and other miscellaneous strips. A device and method is shown that enables any strip or modular shipping seal to be ergonomically installed in a user friendly way by leaving a strip of protective liner protruding from the strip for easy removal. Also, a device and method for attachment of strips is shown that utilizes a positioning tab stiffener device (86) for user friendly or easy insertion of a strip into a toner cartridge, laser printer, copy cartridge or facsimile machine. After the positioning tab is used to install the strip, the positioning tab stiffener device (86) is removed from the strip assembly. By using preferential 2-sided tapes or transfer tapes (87) that are removable on one surface, the positioning device tab may be removed easier. The positioning stiffener device (86) may even stick out on one edge with no adhesive on sticking out portion wherein this portion that sticks out provides for easier removal.

    • Methods and apparatus which enable the lateral displacement of windows and window elements in reaction to overpressure forces resulting from an explosion are disclosed. According to the present invention, these forces are released to the edges of the displaced window and window elements, and the window itself remains intact or does not release life-threatening or injurious projectiles. One embodiment of the invention (10) comprises a window frame (12) which holds a pane of glass or synthetic material such as acrylic or polycarbonate (14), the frame (12) being coupled to a window receiving pan or receptor (16) by a plurality of retainers (18). The overpressure from an explosive blast causes the frame (12) to be displaced primarily laterally from the receiving pan (16) thereby releasing the blast overpressure (20) to the edges of the displaced frame (12) and reducing the risk of release of shrapnel from said sheet of generally light transmissive material (14). The retainers (18) may be woven cloth straps (18A), rope (18B), metallic and non-metallic cable (18C), mono-filament such as nylon (18D), and plastic (18E) including polymers such as Kevlar.TM..
