摘要： Oxidation catalysts for used in the full oxidation to CO2 and H2O of volatile organic compounds, such as hydrocarbons, comprising mixed oxides of copper, manganese and one or more rare-earth metals, wherein the metals can assume multiple valency states, having a percentage composition by weight, expressed as CuO, MnO and rare-earth oxides, in which the metal has the minimum value of 8-50%, 10-75% and 2-15%, respectively. The oxides are supported on inert porous inorganic oxides.

摘要： An apparatus and method for removing mercury, and in particular elemental mercury, from a fluid stream by exposing the fluid stream to a polyethersulfone or filter-coated with anion exchange resin, or anion exchange resin-coated surface onto which has been loaded elemental iodine. Elemental iodine is loaded onto the PES or anion exchange resin-coated surface by immersing the PES or anion exchange resin-coated substrate in an iodine/pentane solution, then removing the substrate from the iodine/pentane solution and rinsing in pentane.

摘要： An energy efficient series of mass and energy integrated reactive distillation columns and distillation columns are used to effect the production of diaryl carbonate. Utilizing the method or apparatus of the invention facilitates high diaryl carbonate production rates, and convenient recovery of unreacted starting materials and side-reaction products for recycle within the process for making diaryl carbonates or utilization in parallel reactions such as the manufacture of dialkyl carbonates. The method makes use of three reactive distillation columns and two rectification columns which are joined by a plurality of lines for transferring reactants and/or products into and out of the columns.

The purifier materials of this invention comprise a thin layer of one or more reduced forms of a metal oxide coated on the surface of a nonreactive substrate. The thin layer may further contain the completely reduced form of the metal. In one embodiment, the total surface area of the thin layer is less than 100 m2/g.

摘要： A process and apparatus for contacting reactants with a particulate catalyst while indirectly contacting the reactants with a heat exchange medium performs heat exchange in a first reaction zone and moves catalyst, at least intermittently, through the second reaction zone while the process is operating. The first reaction zone is preferably a fixed bed reaction zone. The use of first reaction zone as a fixed bed reaction zone simplifies the process arrangement by not requiring means for catalyst movement in a reaction zone that performs simultaneous heat exchange. Long periods of operation are possible since the first reaction zone will typically experience a slow rate of catalyst deactivation and need infrequent regeneration. The first reaction zone may also be designed for catalyst movement, but independently controlled from the first reaction zone to facilitate the movement of catalyst therethrough.
