    • An apparatus for the processing/handling of the anus/rectum of slaughtered animals, comprising a cutting arrangement mounted in a housing for the cutting-over of the connection between the anus/rectum and surrounding tissue, the cutting arrangement comprising a cavity defined by a cylindrical blade with cutting edge and an extension. Displaced in the cavity, substantially parallel with the axis of the cylindrical blade, there is a mandrel/hollow profile connected to a source of a second under-pressure on the inside of the mandrel/hollow profile and for emptying of a part of the intestine/rectum. A pump is provided for handling/removal/sucking-out of a disinfection substance supplied to the cavity, the pump being separated from the source of the second under-pressure and comprising an arrangement for establishing a first under-pressure in the cavity. It is possible to cut free the anus/rectum area at the same time that an emptying of the outermost part of the intestine is effected without incurring any contamination of the meat with colon bacteria from feces.

    • A continuous roe separating apparatus includes a cylindrical rotary net which has a roe carrying surface formed into a meshed peripheral surface and which is disposed such that its cylindrical axial center is horizontal and which is rotatable around its axial center. A squeezing roller is placed facing the peripheral surface in the same axial direction as the rotary net and adapted to press the roes carried in the rotational direction of the rotary net from above between the roller and the peripheral surface to squeeze out the roe particles from an ovary membrane and to drop or droop the roe particles through the roe particles dropping holes of the peripheral surface into the rotary net. A roe particles scraper is provided for scraping the roe particles pressed by the squeezing roller to be drooped through the drop holes into the rotary net.

    • An apparatus for removing feces from a bird's intestines while avoiding contact between the feces and the bird's skin. The apparatus includes a clasping device for supporting the bird laterally and for applying squeezing forces to opposite sides of the bird. The clasping device is rotatable between a first position, in which the bird is in a substantially vertical position, and a second position, in which the bird is in a substantially horizontal position. The apparatus further includes a compression assembly that is configured for forcing feces out of the bird by exerting a compressive force on an exterior surface of the bird while the clasping device is squeezing the bird and while the clasping device is in the second position. This compression assembly preferably includes compression members that move in tandem with the bird and the clasping device as the bird moves through an automated processing system.

    • A poultry processing machine is provided which automatically vents and opens the poultry, eviscerates the poultry, displays the poultry for inspection, and either provides a normal or radical clean out procedure to the poultry. When the poultry is being physically processed, it is maintained in a generally stationary position with respect to the surface supporting the poultry processor to provide for uniform positioning of the poultry on the conveyor. Further, the poultry is positioned in a generally horizontal position during the venting and opening, eviscerating and cleaning procedures, to facilitate removing the unwanted materials from the poultry without increasing the risk of contamination. The eviscerating station uses an eviscerating tool which includes an opening sized to receive the viscera package therethrough during the eviscerating process to prevent damage to the viscera package. The clean out station automatically recognizes whether a particular poultry is to receive the normal or radical clean out procedure, thereby reducing processing time.

    • A poultry processing machine including a distribution housing, a rotating dome and a truncated conical surface outwardly of the dome for the distribution of quarter legs to several processing units. Gates control the admission of the pieces to the processing units. The processing unit includes a converging inlet within which horizontal extending bars are positioned to allow the smaller end of the piece to drop downwardly into the unit. A rotatable circular blade and traction wheels draw the piece downwardly along with the operation of vacuum from a rotatable cutter. A passageway concentrically arranged within the cutter receives the bone of the quarter leg and vacuum drawn through the rotatable cutter draws the piece downwardly. A spreading surface lays the now deboned and longitudinally sliced piece into a flat slab. A skinning device having vacuum associated with a porous wheel pulls the skin away from the flesh. A skinning knife assists in this process. The skin is then discharged from the surface of the wheel by a compressed air section while the flesh progresses outwardly to trigger an outlet sensor which initiates the process again through the opening of the corresponding gate above the truncated conical surface.
