    • A magnetic recording medium having stable running properties and durability even under the severe environmental conditions of low or high humidity is disclosed. The magnetic recording medium comprises a non-magnetic support and a magnetic layer of a thin ferromagnetic metal film formed thereon, wherein the thin ferromagnetic metal film has thereon at least one member selected from fluorine-containing multi-chain type compounds represented by the following general formula (I):(P).sub.m Q(R).sub.n (I)wherein Q represents (m+n) valent organic residue; R represents a monovalent group comprising a fluoropolyether chain; P represents a monovalent oxo-acid derivative group or a monovalent group which is a salt of an oxo-acid derivative; m represents an integer of 1 or more; and n represents an integer of 2 or more.
