摘要： An optical recording device includes a crystal selected from the group of alkali metal halides or alkali-earth halides and is doped with an alkali metal dopant and negative hydride ions to form a doped crystal. The doped crystal is formed to have a hydride light absorption band (40) centered about a predetermined frequency having a wavelength (lambda1) and a color center light absorption band (50) centered about another predetermined frequency having a wavelength (lambda2). The doped crystal exhibits two switching states with the first state having a light absorption level in the hydride band and a low light absorption level in the color center band and a second state having a light absorption level in the hydride band and a hight light absorption level in the color center band. The doped crystal is repeatedly switchable between the states by the irradiation of switching light of a selected intensity in the hydride band to switch the state of the doped crystal from the first state to the second state and by the irradiation of switching light of a selected intensity in the color center band to switch the state of the doped crystal from the second state to the first state. Multi-layered devices (60, 70) employing different doped crystal layers may be employed to vertically store additional bits of information.

摘要： A method of recording and erasing of information on an optical carrier consists in using an optical information carrier (1) with a sealed chamber (2), which has a working surface (3) with a recording medium (4) and an auxiliary surface (5), in introducing into the sealed chamber (2) an active chemical substance chemically affined with the material of the recording medium (4) and in forming or deleting at least one information unit by removing and/or applying a layer of the recording medium (4) by means of applying energy to the recording medium (4). The removing and applying of the layer of the recording medium (4) are effected by carrying out chemical reactions between the material of the recording medium (4) and the chemical substance chemically affined with the material of the recording medium. An optical memorization device for recording and erasing of information on an optical carrier comprises a radiation source influencing the optical information carrier (1) with the sealed chamber (3), which has a working surface (3) with the recording medium (4) and an auxiliary surface (5), these surfaces being in thermal contact with a heater (11). The sealed chamber (2) has the active chemical substance (6) chemically affined with the material of the recording medium (4).

摘要： An optical recording film in the form of a monomolecular layer, includes chemisorptive molecules that are chemically bonded by covalent bonding to a surface of a substrate. The optical recording film has the property that, when irradiated with polarized light, a long axis orientation of the chemisorptive molecules is changed to a direction in which the polarized light is irradiated. A reflective film may be formed on the substrate surface. For the chemisorptive molecules it is possible to use CH3—COO—C6H4—(CH2)6—SiCl3, for example. The molecules undergo a dehydrochlorination with active hydrogen in the base material surface, and are chemically bonded to the base material surface by covalent bonding. Thus, an erasable or a write-once optical recording medium of high density can be provided by chemisorption without necessitating vacuum vapor deposition to form the recording layer.
