    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media processing device capable of improving temperature uniformity of a pressure roller for, e.g., record media of a printer, and preventing the media from wrinkling.SOLUTION: A pressure roller 100 for a media processing device includes a hollow cylindrical member 120, an elastomeric layer 160, and an endbell 172 disposed on each end of the hollow cylindrical member 120. A chamber 140 is defined by an inner wall 124 of the hollow cylindrical member 120 and the endbells 172, and filled with a predetermined amount of liquid 180 to absorb heat from the hollow cylindrical member 120, thereby homogenizing temperature across the hollow cylindrical member 120, enhancing resistance against temperature increase when subjected to elevated temperatures, enabling dimensional stability of the pressure roller 100 in spite of temperature change, homogenizing temperature of media, and preventing wrinkling.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic system utilizing a belt roll fuser mechanism which inhibits or minimizes wrinkling or slipping of printed media through the fuser.SOLUTION: In the device, with minimal differential shear stress between an internal pressure roll 220 and the inside of a belt 210 in a nip and around a wrap, the belt is driven at an ideal velocity profile at all locations across the width of the roll. The ideal velocity profile is realized by straining the circumference belt while the belt is mounted on a roll support structure by flaring the other rolls equally and flaring the internal pressure roll to match the strained circumference of the belt. A small flaring of the rolls in a belt module would reduce sliding of the belt and make the transition between the wraps or the stripper shoe less stressful.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for applying a release agent to a fuser roll used in a print job.SOLUTION: The apparatus has: a release agent metering roll 330 supported so as to be brought into contact with a supply device of release agent material; a variable speed drive adjusted to effect movement of the release agent metering roll in an endless path at different surface velocities; a donor roll 340 supported in contact with the release agent metering roll and a fuser roll 350 and is arranged to convey the release agent material from the release agent metering roll to the fuser roll 350 at various rates depending on a surface velocity of the release agent metering roll; and a controller that controls a velocity of the variable speed drive such that the surface velocity of the release agent metering roll varies relative to a surface velocity of the fuser roll and the engagement and disengagement times at the start and end of the print job. The variable speed drive is operative independently of the fuser roll.
