摘要： The upstanding terminating portion (12) of a contact (10) has respective cut-outs forming respective laterally-extending ears (13) on respective sides of the elongated body (11) of the contact (10). The bottom surfaces (14) of the ears (13) are thus elevated above the plane (15) of the top surfaces (16) of the contacts (10). As a result, the contacts (10) may be spaced closer together (Y) for a higher circuit density. Moreover, the ears (13) are supported on respective ledges (19) formed in the insulated connector housing (17); this assures that the terminating portion (12) of each contact (10) will not move during the wire-terminating operation.

摘要： There is disclosed a connector (20) for terminating to a plurality of conductors (64). The connector includes a housing (24) having conductor terminating contacts (26) secured therein and defining an axis. First and second terminating covers (28,30) are adapted to be secured to the housing (24) from opposed directions, transverse to the axis of the contacts in a terminating position in which the conductors (64) are terminated to respective ones of the contacts (26), with the terminated conductors extending rearwardly of the housing (24) substantially parallel to the axis. A strain relief member (22) adapted to be secured to the housing (24) includes a transverse member (126) and cover retention means (138,140). The transverse member (126) intersects the rearwardly extending conductors (64) when the strain relief member (22) is secured to a housing (24) terminated to conductors (64) and causes the conductors to extend transverse to the contact axis to pass beyond the transverse member (126). The cover retention means ( 138,140) extend from the transverse member (126) proximate the terminating covers (28,30) and provide retention means for maintaining the terminating covers in their terminated position.

摘要： Discrete wires are unraveled from a bundle of wires and assembled in respective passageways (12) in an electrical connector housing (11) by preloading the wires into a wire holder (21) which locates the leading ends of the wires at the same pitch as the passageways (12) but in staggered relation. The wire holder (21), supported by the wires, is then inserted into and along a mouth (14) of the housing (11) until it abuts a tapering throat (13) at the entrance to the passageways (12). Further advance of the bundle feeds the discrete wires through the wire holder (21) into the respective passageways (12) guided by the throat (13).

The actuator also includes an operating end extending from the cable end to receive an opening force that moves the biasing end to operate the latch. The operating end has an upper tab and a lower tab. The upper tab extends along an upper portion of the cable. The lower tab extends along a lower portion of the cable.

摘要： A shielded and keyed electrical connector assembly comprises a shielded plug and a shielded receptacle. Forward portions of the plug are received in the plug-receiving opening of the receptacle. The shielding on the receptacle has integral shield contact members which extend into the opening and which engage the shielding on the plug when the parts are mated. Keying is achieved by at least one key in the plug-receiving opening and a keyway in the forward portion of the plug. The key and the shielding contacts are located such that they do not interfere with each others' functions.
