SOLUTION: This driving force transmitting device comprises a clutch mechanism 49 for controlling the transmission of torque between first rotating members 7, 27 and second rotating members 2, 20, an electromagnet 35 for engaging/disengaging the clutch mechanism 49, magnetic members 28, 30 mounted to the electromagnet 35 through gaps E1, F1, and unrotatable fixed members 1, 6. Further it comprises a first bearing 41 for supporting the electromagnet 35, locking mechanisms 69, 71, 72 for preventing the relative rotation of the fixed members 1, 6 and the electromagnet 35, and positioning mechanisms 65, 66 for radially positioning the electromagnet 35. A belleville spring 68 is mounted between the electromagnet 35 and the fixed member 1 for axially energizing the electromagnet 35, and the locking mechanisms 69, 71, 72 are mounted at an outer peripheral side of the electromagnet 35.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a four-wheel drive device offering simple construction permitting highly precise and active control of the transmission distribution of driving force transmitted from an engine to a driving wheel side and a driven wheel side. SOLUTION: The driving force of the engine is input to a driving gear and distributed to right and left wheels on the driving wheel side by a driving wheel side differential gear. A driving wheel side propeller shaft is rotated by engagement between the driving gear and a speed increasing gear and the rotation of the driving wheel side propeller shaft is transmitted to a driven wheel side propeller shaft by a differential mechanism. The rotation of the driven wheel side propeller shaft is input to a driven wheel side differential gear by engagement between a speed reducing gear and the driven gear and distributed to right and left wheels on the driven wheel side. A differential control element of the differential mechanism is rotation controlled by a motor to give relative differential rotation to the driving wheel side propeller shaft and the driven wheel side propeller shaft.       SOLUTION: A space between each adjacent vane 13b of a rotor 13 is formed into a moving passage (r) of the valve body 15 in a storage space part R of the pressing force generation mechanism 10d. The moving passage (r) is formed to have a dimension with the same width from the inner peripheral side up to the outer peripheral side, and a dimension to regulate movement in the peripheral direction of the valve body 15.
