    • In a method of drying a photoraphic light-sensitive material by use of drying air, the amount of light-sensitive material which can be processed within a predetermined time at a set temperature of the drying air is compared with the totalized amount of the light-sensitive material to be actually processed within the predetermined time, and, on the basis of the result of this comparison, the set temperature of the drying air can be adjusted. An apparatus for drying photographic light-sensitive material by use of drying air is arranged so that the amount of light-sensitive material to be actually processsed within a predetermined time, is detected by a detecting sensor and the thus-detected amount is compared with the amount of light-sensitive material which can be dried. If the amount of light-sensitive material to be actually processed exceeds the amount of light-sensitive material which can be processed, such a display is conducted that the apparatus is not ready for insertion of further light-sensitive material. Accordingly, the light-sensitive material can consistently be dried at a proper drying temperature.

    • A silver halide negative photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, at least one hydrophilic colloidal layer thereof containing (1) a hydrazine derivative, (2) a compound substantially having no absorption maximum in the visible light region represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z.sup.11, Z.sup.12, R.sup.11, R.sup.12 X and n are as defined in the specification, and (3) at least one compound represented by formula (II) or (III): ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and Q are as defined in the specification; and ##STR3## wherein R.sub.21, R.sub.22, R.sub.23, and R.sub.24, are as defined in the specification. The photographic material can be processed with a stable developer to provide an ultra-high contrast image without reduction in sensitivity, gamma or maximum density or the appearance of black pepper. The photographic material is excellent in pressure properties and anti-blocking properties.

    • This invention is a process of quickly forming high contrast negative images, which are useful for photomechanical process, by development-processing a silver halide photographic material containing a hydrazine derivative in at least one of silver halide emulsion layer(s) and other hydrophilic colloid layer(s) after imagewise exposure in the existence of a compound represented by general formula (A); ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each represents an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group, or a heterocyclic ring residue, these groups may have a substituent; m represents an integer; L represents an m-valent organic group bonded to the P atom through a carbon atom; n represents an integer of 1 to 3; and X represents an n-valent anion; said X may be bonded to L; using a stable processing solution. Furthermore, the invention is a high contrast negative type silver halide photographic material containing the compound of the above-described general formula (A) in at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer(s) and other hydrophilic colloid layer(s) thereof.
